"Alright well if you're so big and strong then surely you wouldn't mind taking on the Buggy pirates here on this island." Nami said after a few minutes of back and forth with Luffy where her emotions had been stripped bare to him.
"Buggy? Oh Uncle Buggy. I was supposed to meet him years ago but Papa Shanks didn't know where he had run off to. Yeah sure let's go see the clown." Luffy said and Nami froze at hearing him call the feared Buggy the Clown 'uncle'. Luffy didn't bother waiting for her as he strode fearlessly towards the big top tent where there was yelling and all coming from.
Nami ran to catch up wondering if her ears had been playing tricks on her.
"Oi! Buggy!" Luffy stood at the bottom of the big top area and yelled up at it.
"That's Captain Buggy to you!" Some of the pirates were yelling down at Luffy who didn't look bothered by their words.
"Who's the flashy bastard calling my name?" Buggy himself appeared glaring down at Luffy who grinned up at him and waved.
"Hi Uncle Buggy! Papa Shanks wanted me to tell you Hi!" Luffy yelled and all of the Buggy pirates froze while Nami stared in disgust and disbelief. This kid was related to Buggy?
"Yes hello nephew. Tell your papa I said it's nice to hear from… wait…Shanks is your papa?!" Buggy said nodding pleasantly at first before the words processed in his mind.
"Yeah one of them! He wanted to introduce us years ago but he didn't know where you were!" Luffy called back up at Buggy who nodded slightly at this.
"Yes I do have the habit of moving around a- Wait that's not the issue here! You're seriously telling me that Shanks, Red haired former cabin boy apprentice Shanks is your dad?!" Buggy demanded making Luffy nod brightly.
"Yeah! He adopted me when I was little! Can I come on up? It's stupid to shout back and forth this whole time!" Luffy called and Buggy nodded his head.
"Yes of course- wait I mean-"
"Thanks Uncle Buggy!" Luffy said before he easily jumped up onto the top of the strange boat, Nami held in his arm because she had latched onto him in fear.
"Oh no problem. Make yourself at home…wait…no I mean- What's that thief doing here?!" Buggy demanded glaring darkly at Nami who was still holding the rolled up map in her hands.
"Eh she's got some goal that's really important to her she has to finish so that's why she stole it. She's a navigator but…well she doesn't know the Grand Line like we do." Luffy said with a shrug and Buggy nodded sagely in agreement.
"Yes that does make sense- wait no I mean give it back!" Buggy yelled making Nami clutch the rolled up map tighter before Luffy yoinked it out her hands and opened it up.
"Eh it's just the map to Logue Town. Not even in the Grand Line itself. Here." Luffy said tossing it back at Buggy who caught it easily while Nami yelled at Luffy until he gave her a confused look.
"What? Like I said it's a map to Logue Town, that's not even in the grand Line it's just the entrance to it from here. Besides there's no way you'd be able to make it past that town if you stop for supplies." Luffy said recalling the Marine Captain he had seen for a quick minute when he and Mama Branch had passed through there.
"Why not? Am I not strong enough!?" Nami demanded.
"Nope! The captain there is a Logia." Luffy said as if it were obvious and Buggy nodded solemnly in agreement. He knew how to get past Logia's, especially complacent ones, but there was no way this orange haired thief knew.
"What's that mean?" Nami demanded making Buggy and Luffy sigh.
"That means he ate a devil fruit that turns his body into that element. My older brother Ace ate the Flame-Flame fruit and now his body is made of fire and he can control it. That's a logia. The captain at Logue town ate some kind of smoke logia so it'd be impossible to hit him without Haki or without sea stone." Luffy said and Buggy nodded in agreement.
"You're knowledgeable about this. Shanks taught you Haki then?" Buggy asked Luffy who nodded his head.
"Yeah he and the rest of the group that adopted me made sure I was well trained and prepared before leaving on my journey." Luffy said and Buggy merely nodded again.
"How about a match then? Me versus you and any crewmate you want against one of mine?" Buggy asked looking at Luffy who grinned brightly at him.
"I thought you'd never ask. Oi Zoro! Come meet Uncle Buggy! We're going to be sparring with some of his people!" Luffy called and everyone looked around confused before the swordsman seemed to appear almost out of nowhere near his captain.
"Zoro? As in the Pirate hunting bounty hunter?" Nami asked looking at the guy stunned when she saw him and making him shrug his shoulders.
"Not a bounty hunter anymore. I'm an actual pirate now." Zoro said smirking at Luffy who grinned back, and grinned wider when he saw the treasure chest in Zoros arms.
"Didn't want to leave it on the ship unguarded." Zoro said handing it off to Luffy while Nami's eyes lit up at the sight of it.
"Thanks Zoro! If someone stole the presents from my family I'd end up breaking them." Luffy said cheerfully, his tone belaying his threat and making the greedy looking pirates nearby pale.
"Who's the wench?" Zoro asked nodding towards Nami who scowled at him.
"Nami, she's a navigator who claims she's just a thief and hates pirates but she acts a lot like one." Luffy said and Nami snarled for a second before she flinched and looked away almost in shame. It wasn't like Luffy was wrong after all.
"So shall we start the spar Uncle Buggy?" Luffy asked cheerfully.
"Bara bara cannon!"
