"Where's the fire sister?" Perospero asked alarmed when his sister popped out of a mirror in the main hall for a second and looked around frantically.
"Luffy-kun ran off towards the woods and I'm getting some help to find him before he gets into trouble since the only mirrors out there are the ones in my house." Brulee said and Perospero tensed as he glanced up at his mother.
"Why'd he run?" Big Mom asked frowning and Brulee shrugged her shoulders.
"From what it looks like Amande-nee-san woke him up and he immediately yelled 'Food' and then jumped out of her window before she could stop him. He was raised by mountain bandits and considering the things he said yesterday…" Brulee trailed off and Perospero's grip on his staff tightened a bit.
"He probably took it to mean he had to hunt for food." Perospero said nodding and standing up.
"With your permission Mama I'll-"
"Go find him. I want him found quickly and unharmed." Big Mom cut her son off seriously and Perospero nodded again.
"Yes Mama." Perospero said and immediately followed his sister into a mirror as they raced around the chateau for a minute longer, gathering Chess Peacekeepers and a confused Compote and Broye to go and look for the boy.
"Alright we're looking for a little boy, same age as Yuen-kun. He's as small as Pudding-chan and has a straw hat on his head. He's to be found fast and without so much as a scratch on him. I find out one of you put a scratch on that boy? I'll stab you through the eye with a mirror shard myself and you'd better hope Amande-nee or Smoothie-chan don't get to you first." Brulee said to all of the Chess Peacekeepers sternly and making Perospero wince at how protective his sisters were becoming over the boy. At this rate they might as well just claim him as part of the family.
"Mama has also demanded he be found fast and without being harmed. I don't need to tell you what she'll do if she gets to you first." Perospero said earning surprised looks from his two sisters who hadn't met the boy yet.
The soldiers all paled and shuddered at the thought of going against their Mama's orders and ending up facing her wrath.
"Do you know anything about this boy Compote-nee?" Broye asked wondering if her eldest sister knew something she didn't about why their mother was interested in the boy Brulee became attached to.
"Nothing. You?" Compote asked making Broye hum slightly.
"Brulee told me that the boy was on the slave ship for a year and had protected Pudding when she was captured. He's pretty strong for an East Blue child but his grandfather apparently abused and neglected him and has a devil fruit….he…also wasn't scared of her or thought her scar was ugly." Broye said relaying what she had mainly picked up from her sisters ramblings about the boy during their shift for watching the little ones.
"That explains Brulee-chan's interest in the boy's well being." Compote said after a few seconds of thought and making Broye nod as they all moved towards the Seducing Woods where Amande said the boy had been heading. The Charlotte siblings easily outpaced the Chess Peacekeepers but Brulee was surprisingly outpacing all of her siblings as she rushed in to find King Baum to help look.
Each of the siblings looked at each other for a second and nodded as they decided to split up in order to cover more ground, the chess peacekeepers splitting up into four groups to follow the siblings.
Luffy was laughing and grinning as he wiped the blood from his eye after he finally beat up the second boar he found. They were stronger than the ones he was used to fighting with his brothers but he had managed to kill both of the boars. And he had found a pipe on his way here! Score.
"Boya? Where are you Luffy-kun?" Luffy heard an unfamiliar voice calling out for him and he looked confused. That was a girl right? But that didn't sound like Ama, Branch, or Smo or their Mama. And it definitely wasn't Pud.
Remembering what had happened last time someone had called his name and he didn't know them, Luffy quickly scrambled into a tree to look at who it was. Were they nice? Did they come hunt too?
He saw a pretty lady with purple hair a bit lighter than Branch's walking around and-! There were some of those bad men from the ship behind her with weapons!
"Luffy-kun? Please come out wherever you are! Brulee and Amande-nee are worried about you!" The lady said loudly and Luffy blinked. So this was one of Branch's and Ama's sisters? In that case he definitely had to help her!
Luffy jumped from the tree and immediately began beating up the Chess Peacekeepers without mercy or holding back, not that he knew what either of those words meant.
"Wha-" The woman whirled around alarmed and stunned and blinked when she saw the boy easily finish beating up the twenty Chess Peacekeepers that were with her.
"Are you okay?" The little boy in the straw hat that had to be Luffy asked staring up at Broye from his spot sitting on top of the pile of knocked out Chess Peacekeepers.
"Huh? I…yes I'm fine? Why did you beat up the Chess pieces?" Broye asked thrown and wondering how this boy was from the East Blue when he was strong enough to beat up some New World soldiers, although to be fair he did get the element of surprise on his side.
He didn't even look winded although there were some scratch marks on him, and she hoped that it wasn't from the chess pieces or else Brulee and Mama both would be furious.
"They were on the ship with the bad people. Doesn't that mean they're bad too?" Luffy asked curiously and tilting his head, and Broye winced as she recalled that her siblings got him from a slave ship and that Chess peacekeepers had gone on the rescue mission as well to make a statement. Of course the boy would see them and if he didn't know they were friendly he'd think they were enemies.
"No. They work for my family, they were on the ship to help rescue my little sister. Pudding?" Broye asked to help the boy confirm that she was Pudding sisters. The boy gave her a grin, a wide happy on that Broye only occasionally saw on her twins face.
"Oh. Sorry for beating them up then! I thought they were bad people trying to hurt you!" Luffy said with a laugh and Broye merely nodded slowly. At least he was trying to protect her? Even if she didn't need it.
"I've come to bring you back to the castle. Brulee, Amande-nee and Mama were worried when you ran off." Broye said calmly to the boy who tilted his head again but then laughed.
"Shishishishi. Sorry! I had to hunt some food!" Luffy said walking past her happily and grabbing his two kills. He easily dragged them over to her and Broye's eyes widened at the good sized boars that the boy had managed to kill. Both were at least twice the boy's size!
"Let's…let's get back to the castle." Broye said watching the boy begin walking away and making him beam at her when she starting leading the way while pulling out a compact mirror she always kept on her.
"Brulee. I've found him." Broye said and her sisters face immediately appeared in the mirror.
"Really? Oh thank kami. Is he okay? I'll alert Perospero-nii-san and Compote-onee-san that he's found and to head back." Brulee said while Broye merely nodded to show that the boy was found and mostly fine at least.
Brulee disappeared from the mirror and Broye looked down at the boy in time to keep him from wandering off in the wrong direction.
She wondered what endeared this boy to her sisters and Mama so quickly, even if she understood Brulee's attachment.
He was definitely stronger than she expected for a child, especially an East Blue child.
