Chapter 2 - The Cry of the Dark Monarch

The Cry of the Dark Monarch

The world was dying. And Danilo knew it.

He had no answers. The sky was ruby red, with black cracks snaking through the clouds like open wounds. The quakes were constant, but not natural. The ground didn't tremble — it screamed.

The TV had been dead for hours. The news had stopped. The phone was silent. The neighbors had vanished. Outside, the sounds of creatures that didn't belong to Earth echoed from time to time.

Screams. Cracks. Devastation.

Danilo stood pressed against the door of the old living room like a beast on high alert. Beside him, his three children — Kaela, Leandro, and Miro — were silent, trembling, their eyes fixed on the windows barricaded with furniture.

The world had fallen apart.

But this… this was only the beginning.

⚡ The Opening

The sound came like a deep snap, from inside what was left of the house.

Danilo turned instantly.

A rift began to open in the middle of the old living room — the air distorted, light was devoured, and something tore through space violently. A dark crack formed in midair, like a three-dimensional slash, and from within it… something emerged.

A creature.

Four meters tall. Humanoid. Its skin was black as the depths of the universe, dense as the void. The energy radiating from its body cracked the ceiling. The walls trembled. The TV exploded.

Danilo instinctively spread his arms in front of his children. The instinct to protect overwhelmed the fear.

The creature laughed — a dissonant sound coming from every corner of the room at once.

And it spoke. Its voice echoed inside every mind:

"Millions of eras… and at last, I'm free. Fuck! I, the Dark Monarch, am free.

I have returned! Gods, Demons, Immortals — wait for me. This time, not even the sealing sword will save you. Let's see who protects you now…"

Kaela dropped to her knees. Leandro's eyes widened. Miro let out a choked scream. Danilo clenched his fists, body trembling. The air was so heavy it hurt to breathe.

The creature took a step toward them.

"Insects… You are lucky. Chosen to be this monarch's first meal."

And then it collapsed.

The sound of the fall echoed like muffled thunder.

Only then did Danilo see it: an old, rusted sword embedded in the creature's back. The Dark Monarch was mortally wounded, yet his presence was still oppressive. Suffocating.

It crawled forward. Even while dying, it reached toward the children.

Danilo exploded.

He didn't think. Didn't hesitate. He kicked the creature's hand with all his strength, screaming from the depths of his soul:

— "FUCK YOU! HOW DARE YOU TOUCH MY CHILDREN!"

The creature's skin was like living stone.

Danilo looked at the sword.

Without a second thought, he ran and gripped the hilt with both hands.

— "WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE!"

The blade resisted. It screamed inside his mind. But he pulled. And with a roar of pure fury, he tore the sword free.

Dark blood poured out.

And then, he struck. Once. Twice. Three times. Ten times.

— "YOU THINK I'M SOME FOOL YOU CAN HUMILIATE?"

— "WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU ARE TO TOUCH MY CHILDREN!"

The creature thrashed, howling. But Danilo didn't stop.

Not until the Dark Monarch lay still.

And the world, for a second, went silent.

Four spheres of light emerged from the corpse. Danilo dropped to his knees as the spheres entered his body.

The sword trembled in his hand — alive.

The flame ignited over his chest — without burning.

The bloodline consumed him from within — reshaping his soul.

And the patriarch's seal branded itself below his collarbone — like an ancient crest.

Danilo was breathing heavily.

His children were still silent. Terrified.

— "Dad…? Are you okay…?" — Kaela whispered.

Danilo rose slowly.

— "Yes… I just feel strange. I think… I've changed."

He looked at the creature's corpse and the shadow that surrounded it, pulsing.

In his field of vision, a transparent panel appeared:

He looked at the fallen creature.

— "If this is real…" — he murmured.

He activated the skill.

The corpse's shadow stirred. A twisted arm of darkness rose from the floor. The creature's distorted form was reborn before him — kneeling.

Kaela stepped back. Leandro took a step forward, confused. Miro clung to his father's arm.

Danilo turned to them.

— "I killed that monster. And this dropped from its body like… a reward. You all heard the voice earlier. The world changed — like it has new rules."

— "Like a game?" — Leandro muttered.

— "Not exactly… But yeah. A game where death has weight.
