Chapter 175: You Think I Didn't Want to Kill Him?
Great Chu Dynasty.
Jade Capital City.
Within a mysterious pitch black space, devoid of sky or earth, filled with rolling black mist, as if it were a place where demons were born.
Suddenly, brilliant golden light surged like a tide. In the mysterious space, a towering figure appeared. He sat cross-legged in silence, as if suppressing the four corners of the world.
It was a tall man, divine radiance emanating from his body—half golden, half pitch-black—like an Immortal King and a Demon King fused into one.
It looked bizarre, yet within the bizarreness, there was an eerie harmony.
Buzz!
The man opened his eyes. A surge of saintly might swept across in all directions, purging the entire mysterious space. His gaze was sharp like a blade, slicing through the void.
Radiant brilliance burst from his body, increasingly intense—so dazzling it was impossible to look at directly. He resembled a god, making others feel utterly insignificant in comparison.
"Champion Marquis is dead."
The man spoke. Before him, the void twisted, and a silent corpse floated in midair.
That corpse was none other than the recently slain Champion Marquis, killed by Li Xun.
"I had said this long ago, he may have had peerless talent, but lacked peerless wisdom. In the end, he was just another stepping stone under someone else's foot."
A hoarse voice echoed from the darkness, like two wooden boards scraping together—harsh and unpleasant to hear.
"But his death came a bit too soon. In my expectations, he was supposed to fall after becoming a Saint."
The tall man spoke in a low voice.
"It's better for him to be dead this early on. At least his body won't be wasted anymore."
The raspy voice replied.
Clearly, the speaker held little regard for the former Champion Marquis, his tone dripping with undisguised disdain.
"To fall at the Life and Death Realm… his body is still too weak. Though he refined quite a bit of Blood Essence Stones, it may still not be enough to contain your soul."
The man said indifferently, eyes turning toward the depths of the mysterious space.
There, the black mist rolled violently, and within it, a humanoid figure faintly emerged.
But upon closer inspection, this figure was notably different from a human.
If Li Xun were here, he would immediately recognize that this being wasn't human, but a member of the Otherworldly Demon!
"No matter."
The black figure stepped forward, each step radiating terrifying energy. As he approached the Champion Marquis's corpse and examined it closely, he said calmly:
"The spatial tunnel is still too fragile. My true body cannot cross realms yet. But in another three hundred years, the tunnel will stabilize completely."
"At that time, my body will arrive. For now, inhabiting this body is merely a temporary measure."
"Speaking of which, I've always wanted to experience how the native beings of your world cultivate. Isn't this a good opportunity?"
"Hmph!"
The man snorted coldly, his expression showing displeasure.
Anyone would be offended being called a native being. But given their current cooperation, he couldn't afford to offend the other party, at least, not yet.
Otherwise, just those two words—native being—were enough to turn him hostile.
"Just now, your spiritual sense descended. You should've killed that young man from Profound Sun Holy Land."
The black figure withdrew his gaze from the corpse, speaking seriously:
"That person recognized the Blood Essence Stone. He's a potential threat to both of us."
"You think I didn't want to kill him?" the man said coldly.
"Oh?"
The black figure looked intrigued.
"Could it be… there was another Saint nearby?"
"Yes."
The man spoke in a deep voice:
"And it wasn't just one. Besides the newly ascended Saint from Profound Sun Holy Land, there was another… if I'm not mistaken…"
"It was the Northern King of the Great Zhou Empire!"
"Interesting."
The black figure let out a soft laugh and said,
"You were able to break through to the Saint realm so quickly because you cultivated the techniques of my Celestial Race. And yet that Northern King, relying solely on his innate talent, also managed to become a Saint in about two thousand years."
"It shows he's quite gifted."
"But rest assured—with the support of my Celestial Race, your future holds the power to sweep across the entire continent. Ruling this world isn't out of the question."
The black figure smiled faintly.
In the current world, the beings from beyond were generally referred to as Otherworldly Demon, but they themselves did not accept that label. Instead, they called themselves the Celestial Race.
In their eyes, all beings of this world were merely natives.
"And why should I trust you?"
The man narrowed his eyes, his voice cold:
"If I'm not mistaken, not long ago, traces of your so-called Celestial Race were also found within the borders of the Great Zhou Empire. How do I know you're not playing both sides?"
"Heh."
The black figure didn't seem bothered. He waved his hand casually and replied,
"Among you natives, aren't there also countless factions scheming against each other? Do you really think our Celestial Race is one united front?"
"Those who appeared in Great Zhou were not from our faction."
"It better be that way."
The man said flatly.
"We can help you, provide you with an endless supply of Blood Essence Stones. But in return, you need to produce results. That means eliminating certain unstable elements."
The black figure's tone suddenly turned grim and killing intent began to seep into his words.
Both of them knew exactly who those "unstable elements" referred to, Li Xun of Profound Sun Holy Land, and possibly a few other young prodigies as well.
Li Xun had recognized the Blood Essence Stones, and the others had also witnessed what happened.
If they spread the word, even if most wouldn't outright accuse the Great Chu Dynasty of colluding with the so-called "Otherworldly Demon," the origin of the Blood Essence Stones would surely be questioned.
"Those people all have powerful forces backing them. If they suddenly start dying one after another, those powers will suspect me."
The man said, his eyes deepening again.
"As for that Profound Sun Holy Son…"
"I'll have several of the Dukes take action and make sure he's buried within the territory of the Great Chu Dynasty."
He couldn't make a move himself, after all, Li Xun had a Saint protecting him. If he struck, the other Saint would retaliate, and a true clash between Saints wouldn't lead to any clear victor.
Why bother with a move that gains nothing?
Better to let experts at the Divine Palace Realm handle it.
"Make sure the body remains intact."
The black figure said meaningfully.
He glanced once more at the Champion Marquis's corpse. He was deeply curious about the unique physiques in this world—Divine Physique, Sacred Physique, Dao Physique, and so on.
After all, in their own world, there was no such thing as special constitutions.
