Chapter 4 - Behind the Smile, A secret

Simran stepped out of the airport with her luggage, where her friend Elina and her husband John were already waiting.

"Simran!" Elina waved excitedly, her face lighting up with joy.

Seeing her friend so happy, Simran rushed toward her and gave her a warm hug.

"Elina, how are you? And how's our little angel inside you?" Simran asked, stepping back and glancing at her baby bump.

Elina laughed softly. "Both of us are doing great. Just missing our Maasi Maa."

Then looking at Simran closely, she asked, "You tell me — how are you? Was everything okay during the flight?"

At the mention of the flight, Simran glanced behind her instinctively — but Riyan was nowhere in sight.

Elina was about to ask something more when her husband John took Simran's trolley from her hands and interrupted,

"Oh come on, Elina! Are you planning to chat here all day? Or are you going to let your friend step out of the airport first?"

Hearing John, Elina made a face. Meanwhile, John hugged Simran and asked her how she was. Then the three of them began walking out.

But Simran's eyes were still searching for Riyan.

Meanwhile, Riyan had stepped out of the flight with a convoy of 15–20 bodyguards.

He sat inside his latest model sports car, while the guards took their positions in the cars ahead and behind his.

His convoy drove off in perfect sync.

For a moment, Riyan looked out from his car window — just in time to see Simran hugging John, laughing.

But all Riyan could see was Simran's smiling face. He couldn't recognize John or the context.

Riyan shook his head, put on his sunglasses, and accelerated, leaving the airport behind.

Back on the other side, Simran, Elina, and John got into John's car and headed toward their home.

On the way, Simran narrated everything that had happened on the flight.

"I'm telling you, Elina — that man was such a creepy villain type," Simran said, making a face as she remembered Riyan.

Elina and John burst out laughing. They knew Simran well — a simple, sweet, and innocent girl.

They reached home.

Elina and John lived in a cozy flat, and now Simran would be staying with them.

Elina was eight months pregnant.

She showed Simran her room.

Simran smiled as she looked at the small bedroom, but her smile was tinged with sadness.

Back in her village, her room had been the biggest and most luxurious among her siblings — after all, she was the darling of the house.

But she didn't let that show in front of Elina.

Smiling warmly, she said, "Thank you, Elina. Thank you so much for helping me. If you hadn't been here, that man would've found me by now... and then he would've…"

Before she could finish her sentence, Elina gently placed her hand over Simran's mouth and led her to the bed.

Lifting Simran's chin, Elina looked into her eyes — now shimmering with tears that were ready to fall.

Pulling her into a hug, Elina said,

"Simran, forget the past. Whatever happened in India, just think of it as a bad dream.

You're in a new place now, with new people — no one knows you here.

So enjoy this life, and focus on fulfilling your father's dream. Okay?"

Simran nodded.

Wiping her tears, she asked,

"By the way, Elina, you said my job here is already fixed, right? I have to babysit, right? So when and where do I have to go?"

At that question, Elina bit her lower lip, her expression showing a hint of concern.

But quickly masking her emotions, she replied,

"Simran, you just arrived after a long flight. First, freshen up. Let's talk about everything over lunch."

Elina left Simran in her room and stepped out into the living room.

Simran, meanwhile, picked up her clothes and headed to the bathroom.

John started preparing lunch in the kitchen, and Elina joined him to help.

But her face looked tense. Noticing that, John asked,

"Elina… you still haven't told Simran the truth, have you?"

What truth is Elina hiding from Simran?

Who is Simran running from?

What happened in India that forced her to escape to Dubai?

And will Riyan and Simran meet again?
