Chapter 47 - Chapter 45 More Butterfly Effects 1

UA Cafeteria – Lunchtime

The cafeteria was loud. Two hundred students crammed into tables, trays clattering, someone shooting fire out their nose from the spicy curry.

U.A's mess hall was huge – multiple food counters, vending machines, and Lunch Rush whose quirk was basically summoning food with lightning. Gordon Ramsay if Gordon Ramsay had superpowers.

Me? I just wanted lunch.

Also ten yakisoba buns, three taiyaki, and a mint chocolate parfait. For business reasons.

I found everything surprisingly fast. This place had ridiculous variety at stupidly low prices. It smelled so good I briefly considered dropping out to marry one of the food counters.

Better than Mom's cooking, honestly. Though she'll never hear me say that.

You can imagine the stares when I placed my order.

Even Lunch Rush paused. But he just nodded and started lining up pastries.

"You prepping for the apocalypse, kid?" A student behind me muttered.

"Most of it's for someone else. Business expenses."

I grabbed my loaded tray and found a table. Every step drew more stares..

"Is he starting a bakery?" Mina whispered behind her tray.

"Maybe his quirk requires a lot of calories," Yaoyorozu said thoughtfully.

"Hmph. Carb moron," Bakugo snorted.

"I respect it, honestly," Sero said. Kaminari sounded less convinced. "Bro, there's no way he's eating all that."

I set the tray down at an empty table. My actual lunch — tempura donburi, miso, extra salmon rice balls, grilled mackerel — was separate. Contrary to rumor, I wasn't planning to inhale eleven pastries before hero training. Just six thousand calories of normal food. Very different.

"

I noticed my classmates coming towards me as I ate. Kirishima stopped as he was passing. "Bro, are you carb-bulking? That's MANLY."

"Business expenses."

He laughed like I told a joke and continued to the lunch line. Great guy.

Soon, I was approached by others. Midoriya, Iida, and Ochaco

"By the dignified halls of U.A High ..." Iida uttered, slacked jawed. The other two weren't that much different. Midoriya frankly looked terrified.

"Hey guys." I swallowed.

"Have fun in English?"

"Um… yeah. Ken-kun? You good? That's… a lot of food." Midoriya asked with a concerned stare and twitching hand.

"And bread." Ochaco added.

I nodded once. "Commission from support course. Payment in pastries."

"Oh ... Um, of course."

Six minutes later, tray empty of my own food and still full of the 'payment'. My classmates were probably looking at me like I had a black hole for a stomach. No, they were.

Time to deliver to the goblin.

Kaminari (at the next table) leaned back in his chair. "Dude, if you ever need someone to eat leftovers, I volunteer!"

"You touch any of this and someone will probably put landmines in your shoes." I said nonchalantly.

He sat back down like I'd threatened him with death itself. "Right. Respectfully retracting my offer."

I meant Hatsume, not me, but whatever works.

Support Lab – Again

I arrived at her door with the goods.

Before I could even knock, it slid open.

"You brought the offerings?" Mei's eyes sparkled behind the goggles.

"Ten buns, three taiyaki, parfait. As demanded. I expect a receipt."

She made a squealing noise and I barely stepped inside before she yoinked the tray out of my hands and dove onto it. One bun vanished in 0.5 seconds. Possibly inhaled.

"Payment accepted!" she said with cheeks full like a happy hamster.

"Microplates in six days! Maybe seven if I get distracted! Bye!!"

She literally slammed the door in my face.

…Well, at least she's motivated.

I left after that.

It was fair to say that I had gotten my fill of today's shenanigans. The last thing I wanted was more surprises. 'Now, let's deal with the surprises I already have.'

I stepped out of the support wing and onto one of the elevated walkways outside, overlooking the campus. Finally. Air. No explosions. No weird gadgets. Just the cool breeze and student chatter in the distance.

I leaned on the rail. Closed my eyes.

Right. New problem. Or… new upgrade?

I opened Meta Eye again — not for diagnostics this time — just looking. Watching people down in the courtyard.

I'd caught stray thoughts once already. Now I needed confirmation.

A boy from General Studies bumped into a girl and quickly bowed in apology.

"Crap I hope she didn't feel my elbow."

I changed targets.

Another group strolled by laughing. I focused on a new target.

"That guy carrying so much food earlier ... Now makes me wanna go off diet …" I raised an eyebrow.

Oh, so i'm now to blame?

Girl walking past the fountains. Focus harder.

"Wow. I am so buying a crepe after class."

I deactivated the scan and leaned back, running a hand through my hair.

"So that's what you're doing now."

It wasn't telepathy – no memory diving or secret information dumps. Just surface thoughts, like hearing someone mutter under their breath. My Meta Eye was reading brainwaves somehow, translating neural patterns into words I could understand.

Meta Eye just got brainwave subtitles. Honestly? Kinda cool. Kinda terrifying too.

"So those getting stronger from near death scenarios in movies and novels weren't all half assed huh?" I groaned a bit, not sure what exactly I was going to do with this.

It was funny really. My quirk had gotten a level up, yet my Fourth Transmigration Power hadn't shown up in ten months. What the hell?

"Whatever."

I started walking back toward the main building while pondering my options. My biggest problem had been fixed, but the second biggest still remained.

For now though, my biggest priority was the next class.
