On how to drive a big black hedgehog insane with a single dragon roar.
At this moment, this low roar, woven from three parts doubt, three parts disdain, and four parts provocation, was so deafening in Nergigante's ears.
Nergigante had never imagined that a dragon's low growl could be this piercing.
Clearly Logan had, for the first time, given it a chance, for the first time let it have ample backup energy, so why had things turned out like this?
Nergigante's expression shifted from a ferocious grin to disbelief, then quickly turned into rage. Its increasingly heavy breathing and faint, uncontrollable trembling straightforwardly laid bare its current mental state.
With an upturned roar to vent its emotions, Nergigante, eyes bloodshot, went madly charging toward the Radiant Crystal Butterflies that were continuously surrounding and slaughtering the mutated Qurio.
Successfully preying on Logan was only a low-probability possibility; even with the help of the mutated Qurio, all Nergigante had gained was just a sliver of additional chance of success.
But the life energy inside those mutated Qurio being surrounded and culled was something that truly existed. Even if it could not serve as a bargaining chip for its final victory, at the very least it could make up for the expenditure of this battle.
However, with his plan already complete, how could Logan possibly let Nergigante go down there and make trouble at this moment?
He dived down without hesitation, intercepting Nergigante from the front. Bright light flickered along his heat-blade wings as he stopped it in its tracks.
On the Mobile Research Base, the Third Fleet Master, who had been observing the battle situation for a whole day, saw this, put down the telescope in her hand, and picked up the small hammer at her side to strike the ancient bell next to her.
As the heavy sound rang out, the Third Fleet Master's order was issued along with it.
The personnel waiting in various parts of the Mobile Research Base immediately took action. As the anchors fixed to the ground were retracted, the cabin rapidly lifted into the air under the pull of the hot-air balloon after heating up, and very soon arrived at the position where the Radiant Crystal Butterflies and the Qurio were entangled.
Circling around to the Qurio's side, the Third Fleet Master looked at that crimson ocean gathered in midair, removed the glasses from the bridge of her nose, and waved her hand.
"Fire!"
The thunderous roar of shells rang out as the six newly built cannons mounted on the Mobile Research Base as defensive emplacements all fired in unison, their five-round heavy-loaded shells flying into the sea of Qurio and detonating.
The continuous fiery explosions swept away patch after patch of mutated Qurio corpses. Under the impact of the high temperatures, those gaps became the Radiant Crystal Butterflies' main attack zones. Vast amounts of scale dust scattered along with the Radiant Crystal Butterflies' flight, picking up the high heat carried out by the shockwaves of the shell blasts and triggering multiple dust explosions.
Even with their extremely strong resistance to energy, under this repeated attrition quite a number of mutated Qurio still died in the high temperatures.
Seeing this scene while being tightly entangled by Logan and unable to advance even half a step, Nergigante's scarlet eyes went so red they looked as if they were about to bleed.
What those Radiant Crystal Butterflies and the Research Commission's artillery were wiping out was far more than just mutated Qurio; that was its food!
After all these years, it had finally managed to get a good meal again, yet not only had Logan, the one who had come to flip the table, shown up, even worse, they were actually smashing its bowl right in front of it. How could they bully a dragon like this?
Heartbroken, even though things had not yet reached a life-or-death crisis, the violent emotions in Nergigante's heart—nurtured by the toxins that the mutated Qurio had injected into it over a long period—completely erupted, directly making it enter berserk mode in this state.
It completely abandoned defense, ignored stamina consumption, and frenziedly squeezed itself, which manifested as continuous, unrelenting attacks; the pain in its body was greatly dulled, all for the sake of charging toward the firmest thought in its heart.
"Roar!!" (Food!!)
Nergigante's wings shook as it began to gather power, curling its body up even as it let out a furious roar, the muscles all over its form swelling with blood, and each beat of its wings whipping up gusts of wild wind.
"Thorn-Shattering Nergigante Spiral - Heaven."
As Nergigante's ultimate move, it was generally used to deal with enemies on the ground. But at this moment, in order to shake off Logan's entanglement and wipe out those butterflies that were slaughtering its food, even if it meant enduring the backlash that might occur when attacking an airborne enemy—possibly striking empty air and failing to release the power it had accumulated—Nergigante no longer cared.
There was only one thing it had not expected: just how absolute Logan's resolve to intercept it truly was!
Wind carrying flames surged out from Logan's mouth, from the gaps between his scales, and from the venom glands on his claws. Under the combined effects of Flash Fire and Charred Body, it was firmly bound to the surface of his body.
Vast amounts of high-temperature calamity flame continuously gathered and compressed.
The blue-violet fire gradually shifted toward pure white.
The accumulated high temperature made this swamp return to Sunlight once again at dusk.
A twenty-meter-wide miniature sun rapidly took shape. As Logan clenched his teeth and began injecting the miniature sun with the special energy within his body, doing everything he could to maintain its stability—
Nergigante's attack was also about to arrive.
"Supernova!"
Drawing on Teostra's ultimate move as a reference for its energy-use pattern, and relying on the techniques completed through Sheer Force across many of Logan's experiments over the years, the move was now displayed in this showdown with Nergigante.
All light and heat were converted entirely into stored explosion. The accumulated flames became the fuel for the blast, released in an instant.
A massive explosion rang out in the sky, and the blinding light instantly robbed every creature watching—those who failed to shut their eyes in time—of their vision.
The overwhelming thunderclap lasted only a moment, yet it left creatures' minds spinning, and then they lost consciousness.
