Sefirah Castle.
The weekly Tarot Gathering was about to convene again.
This time, Klein arrived early at the Sefirah Castle.
He first carefully recalled what had happened that night, then began organizing how he would explain it.
Because he really did not know what had happened that night, he needed to rehearse in advance, so as not to ruin the lofty image he held in the minds of Miss Justice and Mr. Hanged Man.
After everything was prepared, he summoned Miss Justice and Mr. Hanged Man.
"Good afternoon, Mr. Fool."
"Good afternoon, Mr. Hanged Man."
Miss Justice was, as always, very polite. From her expression, it wasn't hard to see that she did not have much doubt about what had happened that night.
Mr. Hanged Man's expression was far more complicated. He seemed afraid, yet within that fear there was also excitement and confusion.
He was still frightened by what had happened that night.
Klein noted their reactions and already had a plan in mind for how he would explain things.
Of course, he would not take the initiative to bring up that night.
Miss Justice brought two pages of Roselle's diary, while Mr. Hanged Man brought three.
Just from the Hanged Man's enthusiasm, Klein knew he would definitely ask about what had happened that night.
Fortunately, Klein had already prepared, and now he had gained three extra diary pages for free.
Suppressing his little delight, Klein began reading Roselle's diary.
The five pages recorded much, the most valuable being the mention of someone named Zaratul. He was the leader of the ancient organization, the Secret Order, and an Beyonder of the Seer pathway.
It also mentioned that Zaratul had sought Roselle's help, hoping he could steal a dangerous sealed item from the Church of the God of Craftsmen, a relic of the Antigonus family.
Amusingly, Roselle angrily wrote that from then on, whenever he met a Seer, he would punch them!
After committing the contents to memory, Klein put away the five diary pages and looked at Miss Justice and Mr. Hanged Man.
"You may continue."
Then Miss Justice asked some questions, Mr. Hanged Man answered, and Mr. Fool occasionally inserted a few lofty remarks.
Everything proceeded as usual at the Tarot Gathering.
But in the end, Mr. Hanged Man could not suppress his curiosity. He offered three diary pages in exchange for an answer.
"I want to know what the abnormality in the starry sky that night actually meant."
'As expected.'
'Mr. Hanged Man, I already predicted you would ask this.'
Klein's nervousness instantly eased. He lightly tapped the table with his finger and said calmly, "This is not something you should know right now. It would bring you pollution from the starry sky."
"…"
Alger hesitated, but before he could speak, Klein continued, "All I can tell you is that on that night, a star was destroyed."
"A star was destroyed?"
Alger repeated this a few times. His gaze first went blank, then turned horrified, and finally filled with gratitude as he looked at the Fool seated at the head of the table.
'To destroy a star, only a god could wield such power! That night must have been a battle between gods! With his low Sequence, if he knew the details, he might lose control on the spot! Thankfully, the Fool reminded him in time not to dig deeper.'
"Thank you, Mr. Fool, for your answer and warning!"
Klein only nodded calmly, but thought to himself, 'See, I lied to him, and he still has to thank me.'
Audrey, who had been quietly listening, felt puzzled.
She only remembered that night's starry sky as beautiful, especially one star that rivaled the crimson moon. Its brilliance made people want to reach out and touch it.
'Could something that incredible have really happened that night?'
Come to think of it, Susie had told her it felt a deep fear from within.
'But she herself hadn't taken it seriously…'
'Susie… it seems she's actually more suited to be an Beyonder than I am… I can't even compare to Susie!'
Her face flushed hot and red.
Thankfully, this wasn't the real world, or she'd be too embarrassed to show her face.
'But what exactly had happened that night?'
Audrey steadied herself and looked at Mr. Fool, softly asking, "A star was destroyed… will that affect us?"
Klein's tone grew solemn as he spoke slowly: "The brilliance of the sun will be dimmed."
This time he was not lying to them.
He knew that when a star exploded, it produced massive amounts of dust and gas clouds.
From the brightness and scope of that stellar explosion, it wasn't too far from the sun.
As the dust and gas clouds spread and drifted, they could block the sun's light from reaching the earth.
In some regions, there could even be polar night.
Audrey gave an "oh" in response, showing she understood, though in truth she barely did.
'The brilliance of the sun will be dimmed?'
Alger trembled at the thought. Among the Seven Gods, one was the Eternal Blazing Sun.
He represented the sun itself.
The sun's brilliance dimming meant that in that battle, the Eternal Blazing Sun had been gravely injured!
This matched perfectly with the intelligence he had received!
According to reports, the Church of the Eternal Blazing Sun had recently been conducting a series of activities, especially in hunting down heretics, showing an uncompromising attitude.
There were even rumors that several archbishops had gone to the Southern Continent to completely eradicate an evil cult entrenched there.
Now it all made sense… Alger gasped, forcing himself to stop thinking further.
Mr. Fool had just warned him not to dwell on matters of the gods.
"I mustn't think! I mustn't think any further!" He struggled to calm himself down.
His unusual behavior caught Klein and Audrey's attention, and they both looked at him curiously.
Alger took a deep breath before revealing the Eternal Blazing Sun Church's strange recent actions.
Audrey's mouth opened in shock. That night's events were actually tied to the gods!
Susie had sensed it, but she hadn't noticed at all…
She sank into deep self-doubt.
Klein felt conflicted. He hadn't expected Alger to link the sun's dimming with the church's abnormal movements, and to speak so convincingly.
This made him wonder if he had gone too far this time…
…
Backlund.
After being warned by Will, Hastur had stayed obediently at home, spending his days eating, reading in the study, or strolling in the garden.
He hadn't gone far. Who knew if he might run into Uroboros by accident? Better to wait until Will lured him away from Backlund.
In the afternoon, a policeman came with good news: Inspector Reid's wife had safely given birth to a boy, and both mother and child were well.
In his words, Reid had even hinted that Hastur might help choose a name.
Of course, Hastur would not refuse such happy news.
But since he couldn't leave the house yet, he put it off for a few days, planning to visit later.
That night, Will finally came to him in a dream.
He said he had successfully lured Uroboros away from Backlund, so he would not appear there anytime soon.
Only then did Hastur relax, finally free again.
He asked if his fate was still concealed.
"Yes. Your fate's aura has become faint. Even if you walk in the streets, it will be hard for fate to draw you into contact with others tied to destiny."
"Not only that, Backlund's aura of fate seems to have weakened as well. To Uroboros, this should look like a normal result of my leaving the city."
After a pause, Will reminded him, "Remember to have more ice cream sent. I want strawberry flavor. I really can't stand chocolate."
"No problem."
With these troubles resolved, Hastur felt much lighter.
After Will left, he entered the Hall of Stars.
As usual, he let his gaze sweep over them one by one.
The Supernova Dominator was unchanged, the Mother Tree of Desire was quiet, and the Son of Chaos seemed even more firmly sealed.
The High-Dimensional Overseer… wait!
Hastur noticed a small unusual light on the Overseer's star!
The light cocoon was still wrapped in temporal turbulence as always, but at the end of a thread beneath it hung a small glowing point.
He quickly drew closer to see.
Inside that glow… was a baby!
And around the baby were two figures, who seemed to be his parents.
Looking closer, the man resembled someone he knew!
Inspector Reid!!!
Glancing at the surroundings, it really looked like Reid's home!
No way… the High-Dimensional Overseer was reborn as Reid's newborn son?
