Chapter 15 - CH 15- THE HOTEL THAT SHIFTED

The moment the spirit's whisper faded, the corridor became painfully silent. The six friends stood frozen; none of them even dared to breathe loudly. The air felt thick, almost heavy, as if the hotel were standing too close to them.

Rhea was the first to break the silence, her voice trembling. "This isn't a normal corridor. We didn't move here, but the hotel moved us." Dev swallowed hard, forcing himself to stay calm even though his arms felt cold. He said, "Okay, we will stay together; we will not run in different directions. That's how the people disappear." Vivek shook his head and said, "No one is disappearing; we all will stay together." But even Vivek didn't sound confident.

The corridor stretched endlessly in both directions, lit by yellow bulbs that flickered every second. The carpet beneath the feet was damp, and every step made a squishing sound. The place smelled old, like wet wood and dust. Meenal kept glancing behind her. She said, "Why do I feel someone is walking behind us?" In response everyone agreed to it Vivek said, "After we came here, I heard many times that someone was calling my name, but I didn't respond to it. After listening to all this, Meenal grabbed Rhea's arm tightly.

Vivek turned around quickly but there was nothing behind them Vivek saw there was only an endless corridor and yellow flickering lights behind them. Rhea closed her eyes and said, "The hotel is moving again." After listening to this, all the friends started to panic; they didn't know what was going to happen with them ahead. Whether the spirit will kill another one or where they will be moved by the hotel now. Then Rhea said, "Stop panicking. This hotel spirit wants us to panic so that she can kill one of us."

A low humming sound vibrated through the corridor. At first, it felt like it was coming from the ceiling, then the floors, and then the walls. Soft, slow, mechanical, and alive. Meenal covered her ears. She said, "Please stop, stop it."

The lights blinked twice. Then silence. Then the hallway ahead of them stretched. Literally stretched. Like someone was pulling both ends of it. The doors grew further apart. The walls thinned. The lights elongated into long, blurred streaks.

Riya gasped, "Did you... did you all see that?" Everyone nodded; they said that the hotel changed its shape. Dev grabbed Vivek's wrist and said, "Come on. Standing in one place is even worse." They started walking, close together, shoulders touching. The corridor felt endless. Every few steps it twisted slightly.

Sometimes the walls pushed inward, forcing them to turn sideways. Other times, they widened extremely, leaving too much space around them. It was like walking inside something alive. After what felt like ten minutes, they stopped near a window. They tried to look outside the window, but as soon as they tried to look out of the window, suddenly the figure of the spirit appeared on the other side. This time the spirit was looking even scarier than when they saw her take Keshav with her.

They all screamed together; they all were very frightened. Then just behind them, they heard a very hard sound like someone thumping the leg against the floor in anger. They all turned behind; they saw that a room was not there until they looked out of the window. Suddenly there was room no. 801; the door was wide open. Inside the room there was complete darkness. Suddenly from inside they heard the voice of someone they knew; when they listened to it carefully, they understood that it was the voice of Keshav. Keshav, in a very low voice, was calling them inside the room.

Vivek said, "It's not true. It's not Keshav inside the room; the spirit is using Keshav's voice to confuse us. We all saw how she took Keshav with herself." Everyone agreed to what Vivek said.

As no one went inside the room for several minutes, the door automatically closed. The lights in the lobby started flickering violently.

Then "DING." The voice came from above them. They all looked up there was no elevator, but again the sound came "DING."

Harsh said, "The hotel is talking; it's signaling something." The corridor floor vibrated again. Just once, just a simple warning. Dev stepped forward, trying to stay strong. Rhea was so frightened that she closed her eyes and clutched Meenal's arm.

Suddenly the corridor split. A long, loud ripping sound tore through the building as the floor pulled apart like a zipper. The ground between them cracked open, separating the friends into two sides. Dev, Rhea, and Meenal were on one side, and Harsh, Vivek, and Rhea were on the second side. Dev screamed, "Jump and come to this side."

Suddenly the light went off; no one knew the distance between the two sides. There was complete silence and darkness. Rhea said, "Meenal hold my hand." There was o response from Meenal side. Rhea again said, "Meenal hold my hand." Yet there was no answer from Meenal's side. Rhea's heart froze . Suddenly the temperature dropped again and they heard someone whisper, "The one who goes never returns one by one you all will get disappear like this." And at the end they heard someone's laugh probably the spirit's. The floor was exactly the same when the lights came on, but Meenal was no longer with them.
