Chapter 19 - Ghosts in Gear

The Driftforce: Omega vault wasn't built to be opened.

Not by code.

Not by force.

Only by bloodline.

And Marcel Vega?

He wasn't a driver tonight.

He was the key.

Sub-Level 9 – Old Vega Compound

The elevator groaned like it hadn't moved since the first Velocity War.

The walls were lined with shredded posters of Adrian's prime—race wins, interviews, a smile that once lit circuits across continents.

Marcel stared at one in silence.

Dusty. Burned around the edges.

Ayaka touched his arm.

"You okay?"

"No."

The doors opened.

Inside: silence.

No lights. No hums.

Just one shape beneath a massive silk shroud.

Marcel walked to the platform.

Ravyn's voice, quiet in his earpiece:

"Scan confirms: Driftforce Omega. Last VIN registered… to your father."

He pulled the cover off.

And there it was.

A car not built to be driven—but to drive the world insane.

The body?

Matte obsidian. Shaped like a memory that refuses to die.

Engine intake exposed like a snarl.

Twin pulse vents still glowing—after twenty years offline.

Ayaka gasped.

"That's not a car… that's war forged into chrome."

Marcel put a hand on the hood.

It was cold.

Then… warm.

The dash blinked. Once.

Then again.

BOOTING: DRIFTFORCE OMEGA

INITIATING: GHOST MEMORY SYNC

Suddenly, the cockpit lit up.

And Adrian's voice—live, this time—came through.

"Yo, little bro…"

"I knew you'd find it."

Marcel's knees nearly gave out.

"Adrian… what the hell is this?"

"This is the car that started the wars.

And ended them."

"You died."

"No. I lost.

And then I disappeared into the machine."

The car's HUD showed a memory—Adrian mid-race, being hit by a blast of code, not fire.

Syndicate tech.

They didn't kill him.

They uploaded him.

"They made me the first Ghost Driver.

They wanted to control me.

But I broke the loop."

"Now I'm back in the car.

One last time."

Marcel stared at the wheel.

"You… want me to race with you?"

"No, Marcel."

"I want us to win together."

The lights of Driftforce Omega surged.

A new interface.

Two minds.

One wheel.

Marcel smiled, tears cutting lines through the grime.

"Then let's haunt them, big bro."
