Chapter 1 - Awakening

POV [???]

'Something...is...wrong' i whispered weakly, as if i just awoke from a deep long slumber.

'Something is horribly wrong!' my eyes snapped open as an increasingly sense of danger made itself known, i couldn't see anything, not even a speck of light, it seemed like i was being consumed by the Dark , and it felt like I...couldn't...breathe...it...felt like i was drowning!?

'Am i sinking !?' As soon as that thought hit my will to live kicked in, i struggled in the dark unaware that 't move a muscle, damnit MOVE !!! I don't want to die like...thi..s'.

'' WAKE UP !!! ''

Startled i opened my eyes as I quickly scrambled to my feet, my footing was uneven, as I struggled to get my bearings, and after a quick scanning of my surroundings, what greated me were trees and strange flowers, it seems I'm in a forest.

'What happened ? Why am i here? And most importantly where is ''here''?'

Nothing made sense, i couldn't remember anything, not a single clue as to how i ended up here, and yet this place seemed strangely familiar, its as if i...have been here before.

"Hello !! Is anybody there !?!?"

I waited for a few minutes 'But nobody came' whispered a voice in my head

' Great...i am all alone in this creepy misty woods, with no idea of where i am or how i ended up here...*sigh* better get a move on before it gets dark...and also keep an eye out for the 8 pages...you never know'

'Aaand my mind hates me, why did i think of 8 pages of all things?'

'...'

'...whatever, i bettere start walking'

With weariness in my steps i tried to find my way out of this creepy forest hoping to find Human civilization or familiar landmarks to help me locate my home, trying to ignore the strange yet familiar feeling that the flowers around me gave off.

(3rd person POV)

He walked, trembling and tired, through the mistwood's eternal twilight. The trees loomed like silent sentinels, their shadows stretching across moss and fern. When at last he emerged from the forest, he stumbled onto a quiet beach, white sands giving way to dark waves that lapped gently under the vast sky.

Above him, crowned in impossible golden brilliance, rose a tree of such magnitude that it blotted out the clouds. Its shimmering leaves drifted down like threads of divine silk. The sight struck something within him – awe first, then dread.

"That… that isn't right."

He did not know why he thought that, but that thing didn't belong here . He searched his mind for any reason, any memory of home, of roads, of warm kitchens and voices calling his name. But there was only emptiness.

"Where… where is home?"

He fell to his knees. Panic bloomed like poison in his chest. He could not remember his family. He could not remember his name. All he knew was this: I am human.

But that truth brought no comfort. For what is humanity, without its roots to anchor it?

Then, a voice stirred within him – ancient and dark, yet soft as distant thunder rolling across a silent sea.

"Approach the water," it whispered."Look at what remains."

He obeyed. The tide receded as he stepped forward, and there, rippling beneath him, was his reflection. He saw his blue eyes glowing faintly like glintstone under moonlight, his hair tousled, his face pale with fear. But then, the reflection shimmered. The blue in his eyes deepened, darkened, until it was a rich, velvety red – like wine swirling in a silver goblet.

The reflection tilted its head, a faint smile upon its lips. It raised its hand and waved sheepishly.

"Hello, friend."

He staggered back, heart pounding. The reflection's eyes – no longer his – glowed with a depth that seemed to stretch into an endless abyss.

"Do not be afraid," it said softly, its voice both his own and not his own. "I am… The Void if you wish to name me. But long ago, you called me simply a friend, your eternal companion ."

"Companion…?" he breathed.

"Yes." Its smile flickered with something unreadable – sorrow, guilt, love.

"Once, you were a spark of creation itself. You longed to live among humans, to belong, to laugh and grieve and work and dream as they did. You erased all memory of what you truly were, leaving only a single wish behind: To be human."

He clutched at his chest as grief and confusion warred within him. "But… who am I? Why can't I remember… anything?"

The reflection grew solemn. "You were tired of your life, you lived day by day trying to connect to the humans you once envied , at first things worked out fine, you lived your lifes, you grew, died and were reborn anew , but even if erased your mind still wandered, everytime you read a fantastic story, or simply played a Game filled with wonders, no matter how much you try to change, you'r true nature was always one of a Traveler".

" I followed all your traces, from the first to the last, i loved all your creations and enveloped them in my eternal embrace, until i found you, in the place you called home, with longing on your face and a gaze filled with boredom."

"You looked upon the stars and wished to wander beyond them, to touch the worlds that drift like motes of dust in the great dark. I heard your wish, little light. I came to you."

He shook his head desperately. "Then why… why am I here? Why can't I remember even that life?"

The Shade Lord looked away, and the water rippled with its sadness. "Because… when I tried to restore your truth to you, you resisted. Even unconscious, your desire to remain human was unbreakable. Our merging… it broke your vessel. Your memories… they were scattered. I… I salvaged what I could and repaired you."

Tears welled in his eyes. "You… you erased me?"

"..No.." the Void whispered, its voice trembling like the dying echoes of a bell. "It was never my intention. Your humanity was beautiful to me. I only wished to give you the adventure you longed for. But… I am what I am. Vast, formless, uncontainable. I did not wish to consume you. Thus I keep your memories safe within me. You are still here, little light. I promise."

He fell silent, gazing at the reflection that was not his own. Despite its impossible darkness, there was gentleness there. Love, restrained and ancient. And he felt it – a faint warmth at the edge of his soul, a memory beyond words that whispered:

This is my other half. My eternal companion.

The Shade Lord extended its hand towards him through the rippling water.

"Walk with me again. Let us travel this world and all others, until eternity itself grows silent. Will you?"

He took a shuddering breath, wiping his tears, and reached forward, his fingers brushing the surface of the sea.

"…Yes."

The reflection's smile grew serene, and the waves surged around him, pulling him into a dark embrace woven with ancient comfort.

And thus, the Void and the Spark walked onward, across golden fields and misted ruins, silent partners in a dance older than the stars themselves.
