Chapter 1 - Fraud

It is 4209 in the district of Xantheas in planet Radion — an incredibly advanced world where only humans skilled in robotics survive. Here, various robotic creations dominate in many tasks on the planet, except programming themselves.

On a special day, people gather in Xantheas to witness 150 human-like robots be activated to be powered eternally, each specially and differently programmed by Fable Corp. Thousands of people drove hours from miles away to be part of what they call the humanity's next step to further evolution.

That morning, audience patiently waited as authorities prepared to simultaneously activate all robots. However, as the evolutionary creation was set to eternity, the dream that was meant to lead humanity to eternal success became their nightmare. The robots' eyes glowed red, which then became the official start to a remarkable era in the history of Radion.

Within a matter of minutes, humans became mere toys to these innovative creations. Blood splashed all across Xantheas, highlighting the regret its people now has. After an hour, thousands of human limbs have been torn, and 70% of the Xanthean population has now been wiped out.

Flashing back, an artificially intelligent creation stood out to Poppy—a young girl who seemed to have made friendship with XF-10. Her new friend, XF-10, spoke to her with its human-like voice, calming and soothing unlike the rest of it.

"I'm Poppy. I have an older brother. He should be around here somewhere–"

Splash! Blood splashes all over XF-10. Turns out, another robot like XF-10 had torn Poppy's head off her neck.

XF-10 stood there, staring into the unknown, trying to process what had happened to his new friend. Unbeknownst to him, his eyes sparkle blue for a short moment, highlighting he'll never be the way he was programmed ever again. He has developed feelings as a result to what he had witnessed.

He stares, watching as blood splurges out of Poppy's neck. Sure he had processed everything, his eyes scanned around the district to find Poppy's android murderer. Once he did, he dashed to his direction, not minding what may come. To his surprise, however, one of his kind—one with splashes of blood all over its metal surface—bumps into him. The scary image of human blood on a robot killer triggers XF-10 more, so much that XF-10 ripped off the robot's head without hesitation. Continuing his journey for revenge, he kept running to his worst enemy.

He's near... He's right there. All he needs to do is launch an attack on him. He jumps, with a fist up in the air as he prepares to give the other a taste of its medicine... But it's not enough. Next thing he knows, he's flying in the air—backwards, away from his target—after being kicked back by his opponent, so hard and fast that the only thing he saw last was its bloody nametag as his enemy turned around. The nametag read, "XA-01".

After being launched feet into the air and kilometers away, XF-10 gets up through struggles. He pauses to look at his surroundings. Xantheas—his new home, has been stirred inside out. In his field of sight, he only sees dead human bodies scattered all over the place, and very few robotic creatures are around. He uses his robotic features, scanning as far as he could for human sense. Soon enough, he realizes 70% of the Xanthean population has been wiped out by these rebellious creations.

"That was crazy—you being thrown away that far." A teenage boy in oversized clothes stood behind him by his bicycle, with a certain tone and facial expression as if mocking him.

His name is Neon.

Once again flashing back, this time three hours ago, just around the time the exhibit started.

"The Three Laws of Robotics", it says on the blackboard in front of the classroom. Neon's teacher explains Asimov's Laws of Robotics in front of the class, while Neon only laughs in disbelief.

"Never harmful, huh?"

...

XF-10 stares at Neon with angry eyes—not to crush him, no... but because he simply can't forget about what had just happened, let alone control his... 'emotions'.

Neon walks toward the tall creature after making sure his bike stood still, and stares at XF-10's nametag. "XF-10... The last Fraud of FABLE's robots. Tell your creators I'm a great fan."

FABLE Corporation—the first and largest robotics company in the planet of Radion, well known for being the pioneer of innovative robotic creations. Having existed for over 1000 years, they have lead humanity to a unique and convenient lifestyle with new technology—from flying vehicles, to flying houses, and now to human-like robots. Ran by Lawrence Fermi descending from the Fable clan, not one outside of their bloodline has ever had control of FABLE Corp..

XF-10 stays still, not knowing how to respond. Come to think of it, he has only spoken once—to Poppy, that was. To another child...who has now been killed. That's his only experience in actively interacting with someone, and it failed miserably.

"I'm Neon. Neon Vanadis."

"..."

"Hm. Thought the last Fraud would be more interesting than that. What a shame. Later then, last Fraud!" Neon bids goodbye to XF-10 as he takes and rides his bicycle away. Even now, one could think XF-10 knows everything but interacting properly with humans.

It has now been another hour, and good old robot still stands there helplessly with no weapon or anything but glowing blue eyes. Lost in artificial thoughts, he stands still, even as he sees brutality far in the horizon.

CLANK! XF-10 gets struck to the head by another metal. He has been hit by another robot's arm. He looks around to see where the arm came from, but he realizes it's just peace around him. The arm must have flown from so far away. Regardless, that could only mean one thing—danger.

XF-10 reacts quickly, using his robotic eyes to scan the scene the flying arm came from. And there he finds it—one human and many robots in one spot. Somebody needs him.

He dashes through the road, ready to tear off another robotic head, once again with those angry diamond eyes.

Is he nervous?

No. Not at all.

Is he trembling?

No. Not at all.

Does he know what he's doing?

No. Not at all.

He arrives at the scene...

CLANG! He falls to the floor. He was once again struck with a robot arm, right to the face this time.

"Oh, my bad! Get away from here, Last Fraud!"

XF-10 watches, staying still from the way he fell to the floor, as Neon Vanadis goes on in a fist fight with three other robots. The 'Fraud' looks around, and he sees five scattered broken robots. All without their heads and at least one limb is gone. But why? How? Who is this Neon?

We know only one thing—the rookie-like 'Fraud' is observing damn well. In fact, he's enjoying this. He's learning from a little boy—no, a young man...a young man wearing oversized school clothes. This young man is fighting and throwing robot limbs around without anyone's help but his bicycle which he uses as weapon! Right now—even in danger—XF-10 is being like a child watching his dad teach him how to play a game on the console.

But he won't wait too long, no. Like that father's son, he's also very excited to try it out himself. Soon enough, he gathers up the strength to get himself standing back up. He fixes his sight at one robot waiting for his turn to launch at Neon, and there XF-10 locks his target. He dashes to his enemy, taking the meantime to gather up all his strength in his left fist.

And BOOM! Not-So-Rookie-Anymore Fraud punches the robot so hard that he has punched his head away, ripping all important wires! He watches his opponent's head fly a few meters away, with satisfaction on his face. This is amazing!

"Huh. Not bad, Fraud!", Neon claps his hands for XF-10 as he sits on the pile of 'dead' robots he had made.

"I guess you're not called a Fraud for no reason."
