She shook her head again.
/"No, I'm afraid I can't help you with that either. I'm sorry."
Frustrated, Diana let out a sigh.
-There's got to be a pool here. Or a gym. Or I don't know, a library or something, right?
Or is that also beyond your expertise?
/"I can show you all three, actually," he replied calmly.
"Which one would you like to see first?"
-Library's fine for now,
she mumbled, then muttered under her breath,
-Not like I have many options in my situation.
/"This way, please."
They walked through several hallways before finally reaching it.
He opened the door for her and stepped aside.
-You don't need to come in, Erik. Just wait here, please.
Before he could respond, she closed the door behind her.
Her eyes lit up at the sight of the tall, packed bookshelves.
There was no way she'd be leaving anytime soon.
She pulled out a few books and glanced through them.
They were all clean, clearly well-maintained.
Someone obviously took good care of this place otherwise, nothing would have survived.
Her mind was too noisy for anything scientific, so she grabbed a novel at random.
The library had a half-circle balcony with a couch placed at one end.
She lay down and started reading, slowly drifting off as her eyes grew heavy again.
Meanwhile, Matthew tossed his reading glasses onto the desk and rubbed his eyes with his thumb and forefinger.
Staring at the laptop screen for so long had taken its toll.
+This month's profits were impressive,
he said.
+But we need to take another look at the market to figure out why.
I don't want to waste money investing in something that won't deliver. You get that?
Jacob nodded seriously, typing something quickly on his laptop.
_I'll have the relevant department review it and send us a report ASAP.
_What about your own company?
_Don't you want to check in there?
+No. Not right now. It's doing fine, and honestly, it drains me.
I'd rather leave it alone for a while,
Jacob glanced at the time and smacked his forehead.
_Shit. I forgot. I was supposed to check on Diana.
Matthew looked at him, completely expressionless.
He'd said he wasn't in love with her and Matthew had believed him.
So why the hell was he so caught up with her?
It's not like he even wanted to sleep with her.
