Chapter 129 - Chapter 130: Little Lethifold's Transformation

In the magical creatures hut, two red-haired boys were watching the table across the room with nervous expressions. They had abandoned their usual lawlessness and sat tensely on the nearby sofa. Evans could feel their overflowing anxiety just by looking at them.

"You don't need to be so nervous. Little Cloak's potion was specially made by Professor Snape. It's impossible for it to cause any harm. It's just at the critical stage of absorbing the potion now, which is why it looks relatively weak."

Saying this, Evans tugged at Little Cloak's hood hem on the table, watching it flutter its lower edges twice, and said with a smile:

"See, it's not dead yet."

"It's precisely because it's a potion made by Snape that we're nervous!" Fred looked worriedly at Little Cloak on the table, his eyes full of concern.

"It won't stay like this forever, will it?"

Shaking his head, Evans softly comforted them:

"Of course not. It will return to normal soon. That's why I called you here."

With that, Evans looked at Little Cloak, his eyeballs gradually turning pure black.

In his vision, the magical power within Little Cloak was gradually gathering from a tangled mess into its abdomen. This process was very slow, but since it had been going on for a long time, the magic cluster in its abdomen was almost fully formed.

This was a situation not mentioned in that previous manuscript. By rights, a Lethifold's magical power should all flow in its blood, but currently Little Cloak's blood magic hadn't changed, while this magic cluster containing surging magical power had appeared in its abdomen.

The magical power in this cluster was about twice that in Little Cloak's blood, but it didn't seem to be readily accessible. At least compared to the magic in Little Cloak's blood, it appeared somewhat too unwieldy.

He wondered what the final result would be.

Withdrawing the black from his eyes, Evans waited quietly with the Weasley brothers for Little Cloak to complete its final transformation.

Time passed slowly. When the afternoon sunlight was no longer so bright, Little Cloak on the table finally moved, then straightened up and slowly began to float.

"Is it over?"

George and Fred stood up simultaneously, rushed to the table, and crowded around Little Cloak, feeling around frantically. This startled Little Cloak, which had just regained consciousness, causing it to retreat. Only after seeing who was touching it did it float back.

"Almost finished. There might still be some residual potion, but it will be digested soon."

Coming to the table, Evans pinched Little Cloak's hood hem and asked softly: "How do you feel?"

Sensing the changes within its body, Little Cloak waited for the Weasley brothers to leave the table, then transformed into countless shadows and completely disappeared.

But within ten seconds, it reappeared in mid-air, looking very tired.

Next, it tried its other abilities, but they were all about the same as before, with no fundamental changes.

After testing all its abilities, Little Cloak floated in mid-air and somewhat confusedly described its feelings.

"Hungrier?"

Hearing the little Lethifold's description, Evans's expression gradually became somewhat strange.

He didn't ask anything more, instead going to another room to bring the worms he had planned to give Little Cloak for nutrition after it woke up, placing them in front of it.

Little Cloak happily dived into the bowl, swallowing all those worms in just a few bites, then twisted its body again as if still wanting more.

"Can you still eat more?"

Evans's strange expression became even more obvious. His eyes turned black again as he looked at the magical power within Little Cloak.

The magic in its blood had increased by the same amount as usual after this feeding, but this time, all the magical power that should have been wasted was gathered in the magic cluster in its abdomen, floating there quietly.

So this potion enhanced Little Cloak's internal magic capacity?

But that wasn't right. If it had enhanced magic capacity, why didn't the abilities it just released show any enhancement?

An ominous premonition arose in Evans's heart.

With this premonition, Evans spoke again:

"Try this. When releasing abilities, don't just mobilise the magic in your blood. Also use this area here." He pressed where he saw the magic cluster. "Try using the magic here."

Tilting its hood strangely, Little Cloak nodded somewhat confusedly, then floated quietly in the air.

A few seconds later, its hood suddenly lifted, and its movements became somewhat excited.

The next second, it instantly disappeared from the spot. But this time, it remained invisible for over half a minute before appearing out of nowhere, and it looked completely unfatigued.

However, in Evans's vision, Little Cloak's abdominal magic had decreased by more than half, with no signs of recovery.

Looking at Little Cloak's abdomen with only a small portion of magic remaining, Evans's eyes widened in surprise.

Wait, wasn't magical power, like muscle strength, a creature's source of power?

This thing could actually be depleted?

What kind of skill burnt flesh and blood? So terrifying?

No, that wasn't right. It seemed somewhat different from burning flesh and blood.

Evans stared at the magic cluster within Little Cloak, his frown deepening as he tried to make sense of what he was seeing.

The loss of that magic wasn't consumption. It was just because it was stored in a temporary container, and any use would cause dissipation.

To verify this theory, Evans had Little Cloak try many other abilities, finally reaching a conclusion.

The big bat's potion had indeed greatly enhanced the little Lethifold, but the direction of enhancement was somewhat different from what he had imagined.

Previously, after eating half a bowl of worms, little Lethifold couldn't continue feeding and could only wait until it had completely digested all the magic before its next enhancement.

But now, little Lethifold could store excess magic in that newly appeared container whenever it ate too much magic-containing food, waiting to use it when needed.

However, this undigested magic would continuously dissipate once triggered. It couldn't be freely used like one's own magical power.

After summarising, Evans looked at Little Cloak with completely changed eyes.

Getting stronger just by eating, and getting stronger the more it ate...

Great! It had completely become a master glutton, hadn't it?

Where had the big bat gotten this potion formula from? Was it for raising pigs?

However, unlike Evans's strange expression, George and Fred's faces were full of delight.

For them, the fact that Snape's potion hadn't killed little Lethifold was already cause for great celebration.

In his delight, George suddenly had an idea and asked somewhat nervously:

"Professor, for your club test, can we both participate together using Little Cloak?"

They really wanted to join Professor Kahn's Magical Creatures Club, but the only magical creature they could call a friend was little Lethifold. They didn't know if Little Cloak could serve as a partner for both of them.

"That's possible, but if two people share one magical creature partner, the difficulty will become very high," Evans said with a smile.

Hearing this, the tension on both brothers' faces immediately dissipated, replaced by firm determination.

"As long as we can participate!"

"If we can participate, we won't lose!"
