Chapter 1 - Prologue : The Door to Destiny

Night had fallen.

I knew this was our last night. Our last night together, because of what we had done. The King deemed us too dangerous, and now we were hunted by the finest general in the land. This escape had been so difficult; the terrain we traversed was perfectly controlled by that general. How foolish I was, why did I have to form that faction? Why did my wife have to get involved in this mess?

Now, we could only hide from the general and his soldiers. They were known for their cruelty, merciless in killing their enemies. I was so worried about my wife; she was already so weak and could no longer walk. This was all my fault…

Wait, I hear footsteps approaching. I have to get out of here!

Suddenly—

"Hey, look! It's them! Quick, chase them down!" shouted a soldier who spotted us.

I tried to run, carrying my weak and terrified wife. Arrows rained down on us from every direction.

Suddenly… an arrow pierced my wife's back. She screamed in pain and whispered something to me, her voice barely audible. I couldn't endure this anymore. Gasping for breath, almost collapsing, I found an empty house that might offer us shelter.

I heard their shouts, "SEARCH EVERY CORNER AND KILL THEM!"

I carefully tried to tend to my wife's wound. That night, somehow, we managed to survive. After a few days, her condition began to improve, though she still looked weak from the significant blood loss that night.

We continued our journey, determined to get out of that damn emperor's territory. All members of my faction had died in that incident. My entire family had been wiped out in one night. I swore I would avenge everything that emperor had done, but for now, it was better to get away with my wife.

As we traveled through the forest, we unexpectedly stumbled upon a military outpost. I had to get away—

Suddenly… "Hey, there they are! Quickly, capture them and bring them to the emperor!"

I froze, and we were finally caught.

My wife and I were brought before the emperor. We were tortured before the trial. My heart shattered as I saw my wife, frail and broken from the brutal torture by those soldiers. They had even raped her. This was unfair, but I couldn't do anything. I was exhausted, having been tortured just as brutally.

The day of the trial arrived. I was certain we would both die before that emperor. And sure enough, we were sentenced to be beheaded.

My heart shattered into a million pieces as I watched my wife being executed first. The emperor and his general looked ecstatic, while the citizens cheered, proud of their emperor's actions.

When it was my turn, my mind went blank. Suddenly, I saw a red thread before I was beheaded before that emperor.
