Chapter 11 - The Boy Who Waited

Season 1, Episode 11 of "Before She Knew My Heart"

Some people move on.Some people replace. Some people don't even notice what they're leaving behind.

But then…There's the boy who waits.

Aarav

I didn't text her again after that night.

I didn't knock on the wall.

Didn't send a meme hoping she'd reply with a "😂" and we'd pretend nothing broke between us.

I just… waited.

Not because I was weak. But because I didn't know how to fight for someone who didn't want to be fought for.

Or maybe I still hoped… she'd come back on her own.

It's been over two weeks now.

And she's been smiling more.Talking to Reyan more.Coming home later.

She walks past me like I'm just another face on the road. Not the one who helped her study during boards. Not the one who stood by her when she lost her dog.Not the one who saved her that night when her foot got caught in the gate and she cried more out of fear than pain.

No. Just… some guy she used to know.

Reyan doesn't look at me like I'm invisible.

He looks at me like he knows.Like he enjoys it.Like he planned it.

There's something in his smirk that isn't just confidence — it's possession.

And when I saw Ayla leaning on his bike one evening, laughing at something he said — the kind of laugh that used to be mine —I felt something burn inside me.

Not jealousy.

Not anger.

Something worse.

Fear.

The fear that maybe…She's replacing me.

That night, I walked the same route we used to take to the park.

Sat on our bench.

Pulled out my phone.Stared at our chat.

Scrolled up to the top — our first message.

"Do you have a black pen I can borrow?"

Smiled.

How many chapters begin with something that small?

Ayla hadn't blocked me.Not yet.But she hadn't replied to my last message either.

"I miss us."

Left on read.Four days ago.

So I did the only thing I could do now —Wait.

Later That Week

Her birthday was coming.

I knew she hated big gestures. But I also knew she secretly loved handwritten notes.

So I wrote one.

"I don't know if we're friends anymore. I don't know what you feel when you see me now. But if you ever wonder if someone still thinks about you — I do."

"Not because I expect anything. But because I never stopped."

– The boy who waited.

I didn't give it to her.

Just folded it.

And kept it in the drawer where I used to keep all her birthday cards.

Even if she never read it…

I had to write it.

And then...

The doorbell rang.

I wasn't expecting anyone.

But when I opened it — it wasn't Ayla.

It was a delivery guy.

Small box. Her name as sender.

Inside?

A notebook.

Blank.Except the first page.

"Happy Birthday in advance, Aarav.""For your codes, your sketches, or your thoughts."

"I didn't forget. Just… needed space."

– A.

I stared at it for a long time.

Not because I didn't know what it meant.

But because it meant she hadn't forgotten me either.

Maybe…

She was waiting too.
