Chapter 16 - Confession, Interrupted

"Zindagi kabhi kabhi sab kuch kehne se pehle… ek naya page khol deti hai.""Sometimes, just before you say everything… life opens a new page."— Aryan Sen

Aryan was ready.

He had spent the whole day rehearsing in his mind.

Not a speech — just emotions.Real ones.No script. No filters.

He didn't care about perfect timing anymore.

He just needed Akari to know.

It was evening.

Akari was waiting near the bookstore, holding a packet of jasmine tea — her favorite.

She smiled as she saw him.

"You're late," she teased.

He smiled back. "Worth it."

They walked toward the riverside bench.Soft wind. Lanterns lit.Perfect scene — like an anime moment about to bloom.

Aryan took a deep breath.

"Akari…"

She looked at him.

"Yes?"

He opened his mouth —then paused. Heart pounding.

But just then —A voice cut through the air:

"Aryan?"

He froze.

Akari turned to see a tall girl with sharp eyes and short black hair walking toward them.

Wearing a blazer. Holding a file.

She looked Japanese… but spoke fluent English.

Akari stepped back a little.

Aryan's voice dropped.

"…Rika?"

Rika Watanabe.Daughter of a Japanese investor.Aryan's former business competition partner during his first internship in Tokyo. And once — someone he had nearly trusted.

"What are you doing here?" he asked, caught between confusion and discomfort.

Rika smiled politely.

"Your father sent me. He's reopening his Tokyo office. Wants you involved."

Aryan's face turned cold.

"I said I want nothing to do with his empire."

She smiled faintly.

"He said you'll say that. But you'll come. He knows you too well."

Akari stood quietly.

Watching.

Observing Aryan — the way his posture shifted.Like his old armor had returned.

She had never seen him like this.Business mode. Masked. Distant.

Aryan turned to Akari.

"Can we talk later?"

She blinked. "Now?"

He hesitated.

"She's leaving for Osaka tonight. It's urgent."

Rika looked at Akari. "You must be Akari. I've heard… nothing."

Akari gave a tight smile.

And nodded.

Then turned to Aryan."It's okay. I understand."

Aryan opened his mouth — to say something.Maybe explain. Maybe stop her.

But he didn't.

Later that night, Akari sat on her balcony again.

The jasmine tea untouched.

And whispered to herself:

"I wish… you'd said something before life interrupted."

And Aryan, standing in a cold boardroom two hours later, holding a contract folder from his father, could only think of one thing:

"I never wanted this night… to be hers."
