Chapter 0 – Compendium of the Forgrace World

"This chapter serves as a foundational guide to the world of Forgrace. While these truths will be revealed slowly through the story, readers who wish to understand the underlying world system early may find this useful. WARNING: Contains minor or conceptual spoilers regarding world structure, magic, and factions. Proceed with caution." Although this does not include everything in the story just a small fraction of it.

-World Setting Overview

Forgrace is set in a fractured world haunted by forgotten magic, cursed memory, and soulbound fate. Its lands are ruled by uneasy powers — kingdoms that fear what they can't control, and guilds that chase knowledge better left buried.

Most people fear being marked.

Some are born under the twin moons, others branded by forbidden acts. But all who bear a curse sigil carry something the world seeks to erase.

Mages who extract, alter, or destroy memory.

Overseen (barely) by the Memory Wardens.

Every use erodes your own memory or identity.

-Soul Binding--

Brands placed upon flesh — curses that mark fates, track guilt, or steal names.

Used by both Forger cults and secret factions in power.

A cursed soul may forget its own name — or remember too many.

-Elemental Oaths--

Emotional or spiritual bonds tied to nature: fire that obeys vengeance, storms called by grief.

Must be sworn through a ritual — once bound, it cannot be undone without a death.

-Key Curse Sigils-

Aeternum Brand--

Marks a soul as "irreparable." Cannot be healed, only endured.

Often hidden beneath the skin.

Crown of Ashes--

Binds two or more souls together. If one suffers, the others do.

Main curse of the love interest, Lys.

Black Serpent Sigil--

Connects bearer to ancient, looping hunger. Whispers through time.

Keiran's main curse. The origin of the name Solituded One.

A transnational guild of adventurers, enforcers, and cursekeepers. Divided into roles:

Pathfinders (seekers of ruins),

Sentinels (combatants),

Mediators (judges of cursed souls),

Mediators (executioners of law and fate)

Memory Wardens-

Overseers of magic tied to memory. Wear branded gauntlets that scan for illegal mind-alterations.

Curse-Forgers-

Rogue soulbinders who craft brands for power, revenge, or black market value.

-Twin Moons and Prophecy-

"When twin moons align, the Broken One returns."

The moons — Vaelen (white, visible) and Ashrah (black, hidden) — align once every few centuries.

This event awakens long-buried magic, reactivates dormant curses, and fractures the barrier between selves and lives.

Keiran, the protagonist, was born under both moons.

Many consider him a walking omen. Some say he is the Broken One.

Others say he is the one cursed to remember all who have been broken.

-Soul Echoes and The Solituded One-

Some believe souls carry echoes — fragments of who they were in past cycles.

Rarely, one is born with too many echoes inside them.

Such a person is called a Solituded One — cursed not just with memory, but with remembrance uninvited.

They may live lives they don't remember living.

And lose people whose faces they still dream of.

Keiran is the latest. Maybe the last.
