Chapter 11 - Forming A Team With A Senior

"Really?" The lady's eyes lit up the moment Rain agreed to team up with her.

"Yeah, it doesn't look like I have much choice," Rain shrugged, stepping towards the counter where the elder of the mission hall stayed.

"What's your name?" The lady ran after Rain trying to catch up with him.

"I'm Mei," The lady continued before Rain could answer.

Rain sighed and stopped in his tracks turning around to look at Mei,

"I'm Rain," He replied after a while.

He was not the type to talk too much, yet, this teammate of his seemed to be talkative. If it were not because he had no other choice, he wouldn't be willing to partner with her.

Getting to the elder's table which was more like a counter with the Elder who had a long face filled with beards sitting behind it.

"I'd like to accept this mission," Rain placed the Mission bulletin on the counter before the elder.

"Do you have a teammate?" The elder inquired, his voice gruff.

"Yes, there she is," Rain nodded, pointing at Mei who was right beside him.

"Good," The elder nodded and took out a seemingly ordinary stone.

"Place your hands there and circulate your Qi," He commanded.

Nodding, Rain placed his hands on the stone and circulated his Qi. Soon, the stone glowed, the light bright a little.

"Early stage Foundation Realm," The elder muttered, staring at Rain then nodded.

"Not bad, and barely enough for the mission," He continued, scrutinizing Rain.

"And you," The elder turned to Mei,

Nodding, Mei placed her hands on the stone and soon it glowed with an even brighter light than that of Rain's.

"Late-stage Core Spirit Realm," The elder muttered again, staring at Mei, then at Rain.

An early-stage foundation Establishment Realm and a late-stage core Spirit Realm? Something seemed to be up with this team.

But that was none of his business, he didn't care how they teamed up.

All he cared about was that they met the requirements of the mission. As long as they met it, he couldn't be less bothered.

"The Mission is to kill all the Thunder Fang Boars in Bo Village," The elder stated recounting the details of the mission to the two.

"Wherever you do with the boars, the sect doesn't care, just make sure you bring back their cores of the beasts and also a testimony from the Village chief stating you've completed the mission," The elder continued, stating what they would do.

"You don't need to worry, the sect won't take away the cores, it's only to confirm you've defeated the beast," The elder added again, seeing the slight frown on Rain's face.

"You can go ahead and start your mission."

"Also, remember to pack some supplies with you, Bo Village is quite some distance from here," The elder reminded again, watching as Rain and Mei left.

Rain nodded and didn't say anything as he walked out of the Mission hall. He really didn't need anything else. When he got outside the sect, he would get a weapon.

As for where to stay, the outside world didn't lack inns and he didn't lack money, so there was no need to carry anything.

"Do you need to take anything?" Rain turned to Mei seeing she was silent.

"Hmmm," Mei muttered as though she was thinking about something.

"Yes, I need to take my sword, wait for me," Mei nodded and immediately rushed away to get her sword.

Watching her leave, Rain shook his head and wondered if he was right to have chosen to partner with her.

From the way she moved and everything, he was sure she was still a novice and was sure never had any fighting experience.

After about an hour, Mei soon came running back holding a sword and panting as she ran towards Rain.

"Sorry I'm late," She offered an apology the moment she got to him.

"It's fine let's go," Rain nodded and turned around to leave, he couldn't care less about such a thing.

Glancing at her sword, he couldn't help but shake his head. With just a glance, he could tell it was a high-quality one, but from the way she held it, he had the absolute confidence she was a novice.

In his past life, he could use a lot of weapons and had even cultivated his sword intent to quite an impressive level despite not being a sword cultivator.

"Aren't you excited for the mission?" Mei broke the silence, glancing at Rain whose expression seemed to be indifferent.

"Nope," Rain shook his head. There was no need to be excited.

Weren't they just going to kill a bunch of beasts? What was there to be excited about?

"Really?" Mei's eyes lit up hearing this.

"Have you gone on a similar mission before?" She asked, gazing at Rain.

"Nope," Rain shook his head as she started to feel annoyed with Mei.

Even in his past life, he didn't go on a mission like this. He had gone on far more dangerous missions, so why would he be excited about killing a bunch of beasts?

Mei froze scrutinizing Rain. Could it be that he was just trying to keep his calm?

There was no way he was not excited about this. He was just trying to keep a cool head to impress her.

Well if that was what he wanted, then it had worked on her as she was truly impressed.

But then if she knew Rain couldn't care less about the mission and was just doing it all to train himself, she would be even more shocked.

"How many days would it take us to get to Bo Village?" Rain suddenly stopped in his tracks and turned to Mei asking with a slight frown.

"You don't know?" Mei frowned slightly, scrutinizing Rain.

"Would I ask you if I knew it?" Rain scoffed, not wanting to say anything again.

Who did this little brat think she was?

"If we are fast enough, we should get there by tomorrow if we walk. But if we are to either take a carriage or ride a horse, we can get there in less than half a day. That's by nightfall at most," Mei replied after a while.

"Then let's go get a horse," Rain responded stepping out of the Sect's gate.
