Chapter 12 - Chapter 12

Václav Havel Airport, Prague – 4:18 a.m.

Langdon stared out the plane's window as the Czech night faded into a murky gray. The scroll was now tucked safely into his leather satchel. Every word of Katherine's message echoed in his mind—psi-fields, conscious resonance, and a map pointing straight to St. Dunstan-in-the-East.

Beside him, Inspector Lenka nursed a bitter espresso. "I shouldn't be here," she said. "Technically, I'm out of jurisdiction. But if this Black Veil group exists…" Langdon nodded. "Then this isn't about just Katherine anymore." He opened his notebook and drew the sigils from memory—two ravens circling a labyrinth.

"According to legend," he said, "St. Dunstan was not only a priest but an alchemist. That church in London was built over the ruins of a medieval society obsessed with unifying science and theology." Lenka raised an eyebrow. "Like Katherine's research." "Exactly." Their flight lifted into the clouds, but neither of them noticed.

On the runway below, a man in a long coat stood watching, fingers tapping a silver serpent ring.

He did not speak.

He didn't need to.

He already knew their destination.
