Chapter 1 - Prologue - The Dream Beneath the Ash

There was once a time when the world sang.

Long before kingdoms rose and bloodlines carved their names into stone, the earth pulsed with a deeper rhythm. Rivers whispered truths. Trees remembered sorrow. And the stars carried the voices of the divine.

That era has faded into myth.

Now, the world is divided—between the chosen and the forgotten, the powerful and the powerless. The art of Shinmei, once the birthright of all, has become a guarded treasure, hoarded by elite clans. For the common folk, Shinmei is little more than a dream—like a muscle left unused: present, but unresponsive. Centuries of neglect and oppression have left it dormant in most… and dangerous in others.

This is the world of Ensei.

A realm fractured by ambition, haunted by the echoes of gods, and ruled by kingdoms too proud to see their own rot. In the northern dominion of Tenmaku, golden towers rise above the hungry masses. They praise order, strength, and legacy—but their foundations are built on silence, secrets, and fear.

In the beast-ravaged south, Yatsukami howls with raw instinct—where men become monsters, and monsters claim thrones. The seas of Mizugai drown secrets in their depths. The Ashlands smolder with forgotten fire. The Emerald Wilds shelter things too old to die. Transcendents—living gods—watch from the shadows, shaping fate with unseen hands.

And yet, for all their power, none of them can hear the voices of the broken.

But Lynx does.

A boy born without a name, without lineage, without light—haunted by whispers and cursed with clarity. Where others see peace, he sees the cracks. Where others worship the world's order, he sees only injustice.

He has no legacy to inherit. No throne to claim. No master to follow.

But within him burns a question no one dares to ask:

Why must the world stay this way?

This is not a story of heroes.

This is a story of rebellion, of wrath, and of ruin. A tale where spirits scream, where fate is devoured, and where the line between salvation and destruction blurs with every step.

Some will call Lynx a villain.

Others, a prophet.

But before any of that, he is simply a boy who looked at the world—

—and chose to break it.

Welcome to Soul's Path.
