There — looming high above them, almost brushing against the ceiling itself — hovered Kitsuna. Her form was bathed in a cold, unnatural light, her wings spread wide as if she had torn herself free from the heavens.
The tips of her feathers glimmered faintly, but the aura around her was anything but angelic — it was sharp, suffocating, brimming with fury.
Her crimson eyes burned like coals, locking onto them with such intensity. When she opened her mouth, the voice that poured out was not entirely her own — it was warped, trembling with venom and pain, a hateful echo.
"I trusted you," she roared, every word reverberating through the chamber, "and you betrayed me!"
Kai forced himself forward, though his knees threatened to give way. His throat was dry, and the words scraped out of him with a mixture of fear and desperate hope.
"It's okay, Kitsuna… just come down… we can talk…" His voice cracked, softer at the end, almost pleading.
