Maya's POV
I couldn't believe how sweet Dr. Evans was for squeezing me in during his lunch break. I'd called Chl earlier, explaining my situation, and she made it happen. Chl was practically my big sister—someone I trusted with everything, who always had my back.
"Surprise!" Chloe burst into the office an hour before my appointment, just as Lana and I were grabbing our things to head to the hospital.
Lana's eyes widened. "What are you doing here? Dean't you have work?"
"Miss this? Not a chance!" Chloe beamed at me, her eyes full of affection. "My butterfly is ready to spread her wings! I'm getting all emotional just thinking about it."
Her motherly tone made me laugh despite my nerves. "Well, let's not keep the doctor waiting, ladies."
We arrived at the hospital with time to spare. When Dr. Evans opened his office door, he immediately broke into laughter.
"I'm surprised Stella and Hazel aren't part of this entourage," he joked, welcoming us inside.
