Damon's POV
The clock couldn't move fast enough as my shift at the police station neared its end. These past couple of weeks had drained every ounce of my energy. With our upcoming trip to the farm, I'd been scrambling to complete paperwork, delegating whatever I could to Aurora. Speaking of the devil, he appeared at my doorway, sporting that expression I'd come to recognize all too well.
"How's our soon-to-be married man doing?" Aurora dropped into the chair across from my desk.
I narrowed my eyes. "Cut the small talk, Inspector. You only stroll in here when you've got bad news."
"Damn, hate being so transparent." He chuckled without humor. "You're right."
"Fine. Lay it on me. What's going to ruin my good mood this time?"
Aurora leaned forward, his expression turning serious. "Connor's lawyer managed to get him released on bail for Maya's kidnapping."
"What?" I slammed my palm against the desk, standing so abruptly my chair nearly toppled backward.
