The hospital finally released me after a thorough battery of tests confirmed I was stable enough to leave. Though the doctors assured me that Claire's drugs had cleared my system, they warned I might experience some lingering effects for several days. Rest was prescribed as the primary medicine for my recovery. Damon personally escorted me from the hospital to Cole's house.
My friends had already returned to Haven Harbor once they knew I was conscious. Liam reassured me that Hazel would handle my responsibilities for as long as necessary. PH called, nearly inconsolable with guilt over what happened. I spent most of the conversation comforting him, though I knew when we met face-to-face, he'd likely break down again.
