Damon's POV
The tension hadn't left my body since my father's unexpected visit earlier in the week. I had no clue what he was plotting, which made me constantly on edge. I even reached out to my brother who promised to dig for information, but came up empty-handed.
By Saturday, I tried focusing on something positive—helping Maya move into my place. Standing beside my car, I loaded the final box of her belongings.
"Tiny one, is this everything?" I asked, shutting the trunk.
Maya smiled up at me. "Yes, big guy. The apartment I rented came furnished, so there wasn't much to bring to your house."
I pulled her close, wrapping an arm around her waist. "Our house," I corrected her gently. "Now it's our house. Though if we're being honest, it always was."
We spent the entire day organizing her things in the apartment. By nightfall, Maya had completely taken over not just my space, but my entire existence—and I couldn't be happier about it.
