Damon's POV
Sasha had resumed her torment. The lice incident merely provided a brief respite before she was back in my life, causing chaos. My anxiety grew daily, and I could sense Maya becoming increasingly suspicious that something wasn't right between us.
But as the saying goes, things can always get worse. I was at the precinct, having just completed a suspect's statement and arrest paperwork, when Chief Aurora entered my office with Dr. Castle, the attorney handling my complicated almost-divorce situation.
"Just the man I've been desperate to see!" I exclaimed upon noticing the lawyer. "Dr. Castle, please tell me you've brought good news." The desperation in my voice was unmistakable, and I didn't even try to hide it.
"Inspector Carlos, I do have news, but it might make your life more... turbulent for a while," he replied cautiously.
"More turbulent than it's already been? I find that hard to believe. But go ahead, what's happening?"
