Stella's POV
Calming Adrian down after telling him about the dinner incident was nearly impossible. He immediately wanted me to quit my job, and I spent ages convincing him I was perfectly safe inside the company building.
I knew he'd rush over to my workplace—something that was happening with alarming frequency lately. Thankfully, it was already close to closing time, so his own work wouldn't suffer because of me again.
Adrian arrived in record time, less than thirty minutes later. He leaned across my desk, his eyes blazing with irritation.
"Stella, I wasn't comfortable with you working and being exposed to danger before. Now that you're pregnant, I like it even less. We need to reconsider this arrangement," he said, planting both palms firmly on my desk.
"And what's your solution? Keep me locked away at home?" I asked, maintaining my composure. "Because that's not happening."
