Chapter 2 - Chapter 1: 'The Delusion '

Avantika, a third year major in Business studies, always dreamt of being an adult. In her childhood, she used to play games in which she portrayed a strong, independent, adult woman. Little did she know that this stereotypical thought of "adults" of being always happy came with lots of responsibilities and struggles. Indian culture, always depicting adults as self reliant, had set an image in the minds of young generation that adults are always meant to be resilient and fortitude , leading to the dissatisfaction and disappointment in the youth when they reach their 20's, "the first stage of adulthood".

Avantika in her childhood, loved to play 'teacher-teacher', a very famed game among kids of 90's-2000's. In this game, she loved to dress up as a teacher and assumed herself as a very self sufficient grown up woman. It was from this time that she wanted to grow up fast and become a working woman as shown in movies. Little did she know, that adulthood came with lots of responsibilities, obscure phases of uncertainty, low self-esteem and what not! She never believed that adults could be unhappy with their lives too. For her, life was very easy once your school time was over. For her, life seemed to be a bed of roses without assignments and exams. In some way, she refused to believe that one day she had to take up responsibilities and deal with the "real world" too. Avantika was so busy building up her imaginary world, that she did not have time to come out of her 'delusion' and days went by too fast to make her realise that now she was an adult too. Her delusionary life has ended, and now she was dealing with the real 'adults thing '. It was a 'delusion' which was too good to be true.
