Chapter 1 - Chapter One: The Man in the Glass Tower

They called him The Phantom of Manhattan—not because he was invisible, but because he made everyone else disappear. In boardrooms, his voice was law. In the headlines, he was legend. And in the hearts of the ambitious, he was either the dream or the nightmare.

Alexander Wolfe didn't attend meetings. He summoned them. He didn't chase deals. He orchestrated them, like a master conductor waving millions into harmony—or silence. No one saw him arrive, yet his presence filled a room like smoke—dangerous, consuming, impossible to ignore.

From the top floor of the Wolfe Tower—glass-walled and unreachable—he watched a city that obeyed him. But beneath the tailored suits and billion-dollar smile was a man no one dared to know.

Until her.

It was a rainy Thursday when Evelyn Hart stumbled into his world—literally. She had been running, heels in hand, soaked to the bone, and late for an interview she didn't even want. The lobby of Wolfe Global was a shrine to wealth: cold marble, silver pillars, and silence so thick it pressed on her skin. She didn't belong there, and everyone knew it.

Everyone except him.

He had been watching from the elevator cameras—something he rarely did. She didn't look like the others: no stiff hair, no frozen smile. Just raw determination wrapped in a soaked blouse and wide, furious eyes.

When the doors opened, she turned too quickly and collided with him. Her folder scattered across the floor. He didn't flinch.

"Late," he said, his voice calm and razor-edged.

"I know," she snapped, then blinked. "Sorry, sir."

She didn't know who he was—not yet.

He handed her a paper without looking down. "Interview. My office. Now."

And just like that, Evelyn Hart became the first woman to walk into the glass tower without an invitation—and the only one to ever walk back out with his attention.

Because Alexander Wolfe didn't believe in fate. But something about her made him question everything.
