Hello everyone,
Some time ago, I announced that I would be putting Echo of the Past on hold while I completely rewrote Act 1.
At the time, I still thought it would mostly be a rewrite: revisiting the early chapters, improving their structure and pacing, reworking a few important sections, and then gradually returning to publication.
But as I kept working on it, the scope became much larger than I had originally expected.
What was supposed to be a rewrite gradually turned into something far deeper.
I ended up rebuilding the story from its very foundations.
The overall structure of Act 1, its progression, the development of certain parts of the world, the way several concepts are introduced, specific scenes and events, and a large portion of the narrative itself have all been extensively reworked so that the beginning of the story truly reflects what I want to build today.
Naturally, this has taken much more time than I originally anticipated.
Act 1 of this new version is not completely finished yet.
However, the work has now progressed far enough that I can finally announce something more concrete:
I should be able to start publishing by the end of October.
For now, I would rather not announce an exact date so I can keep enough flexibility to finish everything properly before launch.
About one week before release, I will post another announcement here with all the final details: the exact launch date, the number of chapters that will be available on day one, the planned release schedule going forward, and any other important information regarding the launch.
This reconstruction also comes with another major change.
The new version of the project will now have a new title:
I Inherited Death Itself
This new title reflects the identity the project has gradually taken on throughout this reconstruction.
And I want to make one particularly important point clear from the start:
I Inherited Death Itself will not simply be Echo of the Past renamed or updated.
It will be published as a completely separate work on my profile.
So if you are currently following Echo of the Past, please do not wait for this page to simply be renamed or transformed into the new version. I Inherited Death Itself will appear separately on my account when it launches.
Until then, I will continue using Echo of the Past to post updates about the project and prepare for its release.
This page will therefore remain the main place for updates until the official launch of I Inherited Death Itself.
Once the new work has officially launched, Echo of the Past will no longer be available.
I also want to make something clear to those of you who have already read part or all of the original Act 1:
you will genuinely need to start the story again from the beginning.
This is no longer a case of reading the same chapters with better prose, a few corrections, or several reworked scenes.
Act 1 has been deeply rebuilt, both in form and in content.
Its essence, however, remains the same.
Its world, its characters, its identity, and the heart of what I want to tell through this story are still there.
The goal of this reconstruction was never to replace Echo of the Past with a completely different story, but to take what already existed and give it the foundations, coherence, and development that truly match the vision I have for the project today.
So even those of you who already know the original version will have a great deal of new material to discover.
A trailer for I Inherited Death Itself will also be released ahead of the launch, giving you a better glimpse of the story's new identity.
I have to admit that I am incredibly excited to finally share I Inherited Death Itself with you. I already want to start publishing and show you everything that has changed, but I will have to hold myself back a little longer and wait until the end of October so I can launch this new work the way it deserves.

The work is not finished yet.
But after all this time spent rebuilding the story, I can finally say that its return is truly getting closer.
