Chapter 88 - THE HULK & THE ABOMINATION

The girls were still buzzing with excitement from Nova's demonstration, each eager to share details about their own abilities. Jean was explaining the complexities of her telekinesis when suddenly Bobby Drake's voice cut across the cafeteria.

"Holy shit! Guys, you need to see this!"

His outburst drew everyone's attention. Students throughout the cafeteria started pulling out their phones, the excited chatter quickly shifting to shocked murmurs and gasps.

"There's some kind of massive mutant causing havoc in New York!" Bobby continued, his ice-covered fingers frantically swiping at his screen. "It's all over the news—live footage!"

Kurt teleported over to Bobby's table in a puff of sulfur smoke, his yellow eyes wide as he peered over Bobby's shoulder. "Mein Gott, what is that thing?"

Nova frowned, leaning over to look at Kurt's phone as the blue mutant held it up. The screen showed shaky news footage of what looked like a massive, grotesque humanoid creature smashing through city streets. Its skin had a rough, almost scaly appearance, and its size was absolutely enormous.

'Big ugly giant mutant?' Nova's mind raced.

The thing definitely wasn't the Hulk—wrong color, wrong build. But if this was happening now... Nova's eyes widened slightly as recognition dawned.

'Abomination.'

According to the timeline, both the Hulk situation and Iron Man events were supposed to happen around the same time period. He narrowed his eyes, studying the creature on screen more carefully.

So the Hulk vs. Abomination plot was already in motion. Which meant Bruce Banner has probably surrendered to his almost 'father-in-law', and Emil Blonsky had already undergone his transformation.

Around him, students were gathering in clusters, all staring at their phones with a mixture of fascination and horror.

"Look at the size of that thing!" Kitty gasped, phasing nervously through her chair. "What kind of mutant power creates something like that?"

"That's no ordinary mutation," Jean said quietly, her face pale as she watched the footage. "The cellular structure would have to be completely altered to achieve that kind of mass increase."

Rogue shook her head, backing away from the crowd. "Whatever it is, I don't want to be anywhere near it. Thing like that could level this whole school."

Nova watched the chaos unfold around him, students and faculty alike transfixed by the unfolding disaster. This was the perfect opportunity.

While everyone was distracted, Nova discretely waved his hand, weaving a subtle Notice-Me-Not field around himself. The ambient noise of the cafeteria helped mask the slight shimmer in the air as the spell took effect.

Then he simply... disappeared.

A second later, 'Nova' reappeared in exactly the same spot, wearing the same clothes, same expression. To anyone who might have been paying attention, it would look like he'd never moved at all. But of course, no one was paying attention.

---

Meanwhile, the real Nova materialized in an empty alley several blocks away from the school, the familiar sensation of spatial travel fading as he oriented himself.

He couldn't help but smirk slightly as he thought about the body clone he'd left behind. The Black family's ritual had been truly something else—a complete system for creating perfect physical duplicates. Of course, the original version had been absolutely horrific, requiring the sacrifice of pregnant women in their final months. Nova had no intention of following those barbaric practices.

Instead, he'd completely reworked the ritual, combining it with modern medical and biological technology. Using an artificially created fetus, he'd managed to produce a complete body clone without harming anyone. The clone had no soul or consciousness of its own, but Nova had solved that problem too.

The shared consciousness spell he'd developed—essentially a magical hivemind—allowed one mind to control multiple bodies. It was the perfect solution for managing trades across different worlds, though he'd only created one clone so far. Eventually, he planned to have dedicated clones for each major world he operated in: one for Black Clover, one for the Harry Potter universe, and this one for Marvel. Then the main body would be free to do whatever he wants.

The only drawback was that the clones had to start from scratch power-wise. They possessed the same abilities as him, but at lowest commoner human rank with F-rank stats. Each clone would need to train up to the required strength, which was one of the reasons he'd created the training potion.

Shaking his head to clear these thoughts, Nova opened his system inventory. His hand closed around a familiar device, and he pulled out the VEN-DRIVE. This version was significantly more advanced than the one he'd traded with Asta, incorporating several improvements he'd made to the basic design.

The moment Nova activated it, the device liquified into a stream of black and green nanites that flowed over his body like living mercury. Within seconds, the nanites had formed a complete suit of armor around him - sleek, high-tech, and undeniably advanced. The outer shell gleamed with a matte black finish accented by pulsing green energy lines that traced intricate patterns across the surface.

The armor looked like something that belonged in a science fiction film - all smooth curves and seamless joints, with a heads-up display that immediately came online inside his helmet. Unlike Tony Stark's more industrial-looking suits, this one had an almost organic flow to its design, the nanites constantly making micro-adjustments to optimize protection and mobility.

Nova flexed his fingers, watching the armor respond perfectly to his movements. Then he cast a series of spells in quick succession - invisibility to hide himself from view, a floating charm to lift him off the ground, and a thrust spell to propel him forward at tremendous speed.

The journey to New York took only minutes at the velocity he could achieve. As he approached the chaos, Nova could see the full scope of the destruction below. Cars were overturned, buildings had chunks torn out of them, and civilians were fleeing in every direction.

In the thick of it, he spotted two familiar figures - Ghost-Spider and Scarlet Spider, both working frantically to evacuate civilians while trying to contain the massive creature causing all the mayhem. Abomination stood nearly twelve feet tall, his scaly, reptilian skin a sickly greenish-gray color. He was roaring challenges into the air, clearly looking for something.

"WHERE IS HE?!" Abomination bellowed, smashing a car and hurling it down the street. "WHERE IS THE HULK?! I WANT TO FIGHT THE HULK!"

The spider-themed heroes were doing their best to distract him, using their webs to swing debris at his head and create barriers to protect fleeing civilians, but they were clearly outmatched. Ghost-Spider (Gwen) swung past Abomination's head, firing web lines to yank a family out of harm's way just as a chunk of concrete crashed where they'd been standing.

"We need to keep him contained until backup arrives!" she called to Scarlet Spider (MJ), who was using her webs to create a net that temporarily tangled Abomination's legs.

"I'm trying!" MJ shouted back, "But this guy's too strong! Our webs won't hold him for long!"

Just then, a military aircraft roared overhead. A figure leaped from the aircraft without a parachute, plummeting toward the street with terrifying speed. The impact created a man-sized crater in the asphalt, sending up a cloud of dust and debris.

For a moment, everything went quiet.

Then a massive, green hand emerged from the crater, followed by an enormous arm. The Hulk pulled himself up from the hole, his seven-foot frame radiating barely contained rage. But even from his vantage point, Nova could see something was wrong - the Hulk looked smaller than he should, his movements less fluid. The medication Bruce had taken was clearly limiting his transformation.

"HULK SMASH!" the green giant roared, but his voice lacked the earth-shaking power it should have possessed.

Abomination's eyes lit up with savage joy. "FINALLY! The mighty Hulk! Let's see how mighty you really are!"

Ghost-Spider and Scarlet Spider exchanged a quick glance. Through their comm systems, a voice crackled - likely their handler from whatever organization they worked for.

"Do not engage with the new arrival. Focus solely on civilian rescue operations."

"Copy that," Gwen replied, though she kept watching the unfolding confrontation with obvious concern.

"Roger," MJ added. "But this is about to get a lot messier."

The two titans clashed in the middle of the street. Abomination's first punch caught Hulk across the jaw with a sickening crack, sending the green giant stumbling backward. The Hulk retaliated with a haymaker that would have leveled a building, but Abomination caught his fist and twisted, using Hulk's own momentum to slam him into the ground.

"Is that all?" Abomination taunted, lifting Hulk by the throat. "I thought you were supposed to be strong! I'm stronger! I'm better! I'm what you should have been!"

Nova watched the one-sided beating with growing concern. The medication was definitely affecting Bruce's transformation - the Hulk was operating at maybe sixty percent of his normal strength. At this rate, Abomination would kill him.

Time to make an entrance.
