As they stepped through the oak doors into the grand foyer, Nova felt a familiar thrill of anticipation. Unlike the other students who were being directed toward the dormitories with their luggage and nervous excitement, Storm guided him down a different corridor.
"We'll be meeting with the principal first," Storm explained as they walked past impressive portraits of former students and faculty. "Your situation is somewhat... unique."
The principal's office was an impressive room lined with books, scientific journals, and what appeared to be advanced research equipment. Behind an ornate mahogany desk sat Henry McCoy—Beast—his blue fur immaculately groomed and intelligent eyes bright behind wire-rimmed glasses. Despite his imposing physical presence, his demeanor was warm and scholarly.
"Ah, Mr. Ashbourne," McCoy said, rising from his chair with surprising grace for someone of his size. "Please, have a seat. I'm Dr. Henry McCoy, the current principal of Xavier's School. Charles—Professor Xavier—has taken his position with the Mutant Oversight Council, as I'm sure you're aware."
Nova settled into one of the leather chairs across from the desk, with Storm taking the seat beside him. The office felt more like a university professor's study than a typical school principal's domain.
"Dr. McCoy," Nova replied, shaking the offered hand carefully. McCoy's grip was controlled but powerful. "Thank you for accommodating my enrollment."
McCoy adjusted his glasses and leaned back in his chair, studying Nova with the keen interest of a scientist examining an intriguing specimen. "Well, Mr. Ashbourne, your case presents us with quite the educational puzzle. As you're aware, at twenty, mutants choosing professional integration typically select their specialized field and follow corresponding coursework."
Storm nodded, leaning forward slightly. "Law enforcement candidates take tactical training and legal studies. Medical track students focus on anatomy and healing applications. Scientists usually begin with fundamental research methodologies and laboratory protocols."
"However," McCoy continued, steepling his fingers, "your achievements with the regeneration serum and training enhancement formula place you well beyond our standard scientific curriculum. You've already accomplished what most of our graduates hope to achieve after years of specialized education."
Nova remained silent, letting them work through the implications.
"The regeneration serum alone represents breakthrough biotechnology that our most advanced courses only theorize about," Storm added. "And let's not talk about how amazing training 'potion' is."
McCoy pulled out Nova's file, flipping through several pages. "Which brings us to an unusual situation. The Department requires all twenty-year-old mutants to declare their professional specialization and complete appropriate coursework. But frankly, we're not certain what specialized training someone of your caliber actually needs."
He set the file aside and looked directly at Nova. "So, Mr. Ashbourne, the question becomes: what exactly do you want to do? What field do you wish to pursue, and how can Xavier's best support your continued development?"
Storm leaned back in her chair, her expression curious but patient. "This is your opportunity to shape your own educational path. Given your unique circumstances, we're prepared to be quite flexible with our approach."
Nova considered their words carefully. They were essentially asking him to define his own future within the system—a rare opportunity that most mutants his age wouldn't receive. The weight of the decision, at least from their perspective, was significant.
' This is perfect,' he thought to himself. His main motive for coming to Xavier's School wasn't really about education—it was about forging connections and establishing the foundation for his future operations. While he can't trade since his trading headquarters weren't built yet but he could definitely begin creating the contracts that his system would reward him for.
Each significant contract he made brought substantial rewards, and a school full of future heroes and brilliant mutants was the ideal environment for such arrangements.
In fact, he had received rewards before—like the Omnitrix, which came from a Legendary-tier mystery box as a reward for his contract with the World Tree. Then there was the 'Thunder Rune,' gained from his contract with Vorrikan.
After that, he had entered into quite a few contracts—the first being with Celise Vernette, followed by Lily Potter, Harry Potter, and others—but he didn't receive any rewards because, according to the system, the contracts needed to be large-scale and long-term.
Although the contracts he held with Celise, Lily, Narcissa, and Elara were indeed long-term, they were all his subordinates. For that reason, the system didn't grant him a reward.
However, he did gain a reward for teaching Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, and Draco Malfoy. It came in the form of a skill. While he personally didn't have much use for this ability, he knew there was someone in the school who would trade their very life for it.
After a moment of contemplative silence, Nova looked directly at McCoy, his expression becoming more focused and determined. "I want to follow the X-Men path," he said clearly. "Basically, I want to be a hero and eventually create my own heroic team."
Both McCoy and Storm straightened slightly, their expressions shifting to one of heightened interest and surprise.
"While I have great respect for what the X-Men have accomplished," Nova continued, his tone measured but firm, "I understand they've become an official government-sanctioned superhero team. That's... not exactly what I have in mind for my future."
Storm raised an eyebrow. "You want to operate independently?"
"Not necessarily independently," Nova clarified, "but with broader scope. Since the X-Men have become America's official government team, they can officially only work within American borders. I want to build a team that can work globally—responding to threats wherever they occur, not limited by national boundaries or political jurisdictions."
McCoy's expression shifted, a look of understanding crossing his features. "Ah, I see where you're going with this. A globally-focused heroic organization." He paused, adjusting his glasses thoughtfully. "In that case, you might be very interested in SHIELD's new project."
Nova felt a surge of interest internally—is it what he thinking—but he maintained a confused expression on his face. "What is SHIELD?"
Storm and McCoy exchanged a glance, and Storm leaned forward slightly. "SHIELD—Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division—is an international intelligence and peacekeeping organization. They've been operating somewhat in the shadows, but with the recent changes in mutant policy and the emergence of enhanced individuals worldwide, they're expanding their operations."
McCoy nodded, his scientific mind clearly engaged by the topic. "They're specifically looking to recruit exceptional individuals for a new initiative—something that would operate on a global scale, handling threats that exceed the capabilities of traditional law enforcement or even national military forces."
Storm continued, "According to our information, the recently famous Ghost-Spider and Scarlet Spider have joined a new S.H.I.E.L.D. initiative called—THE AVENGERS."
Nova nodded thoughtfully. When Gwen mentioned that she and MJ had joined a global organization, he had already guessed it was S.H.I.E.L.D., but he hadn't expected her to become one of the very first members of the Avengers.
That revelation carried weight—this wasn't just about Gwen anymore; it meant the Avengers initiative had officially begun, and history itself was starting to shift, despite the massive shift in the timeline the events are still going to happen but with major differences.
Since that was the case, he wanted to join the Avengers as well. After all, what transmigrator wouldn't want to be part of Earth's Mightiest Heroes? For him, it was his childhood dream.
But it wasn't just about his dream; being inside the Avengers meant influence, access to information, and the ability to shape outcomes before they spiraled out of control. If the team was going to exist in this timeline, he intended to ensure it didn't become another government-controlled weapon.
Nova know where that road led. In MCU, goverment trying to control Avengers lead to Civil War, factions of heroes turning on one another, the Sokovia Accords reducing freedom to a signature on a page—it was chaos dressed as order. He couldn't allow that to take root here.
If the Avengers were to thrive, they needed freedom to act without being strangled by endless oversight. That meant finding ways to keep government influence in check—whether through building trust, proving their worth, or simply staying a step ahead of the people who might try to control them.
To prevent it, he needed to think ahead. Leverage through contracts was one option. Establishing alternative funding sources, independent from S.H.I.E.L.D. or any government, would be another. If push came to shove, he could even use his own reputation and power to sway public opinion, controlling the narrative before politicians had a chance to twist it.
Afterall he have massive influence, due of the regeneration serum and recently world wide famous, the 'Training Potion'.
