Chapter 2 - I'm returning to the capital today, Kara.

Soldier 21 of the 49th Regiment North: Finally, the longest week of my life is over. I couldn't even sleep anymore. The screams of my comrades, the memories of those who died, I was already having nightmares with them calling me, saying I was the next martyr. But now it doesn't matter. Whoever is dead is dead, and the dead shouldn't speak, not even in the dreams of the living. I don't consider myself a cold person, but war is war. There's no room for sympathy or compassion if we're not the next to die. I heard rumors that we are winning in the south, I hope they are true. Kara went to the south, I hope she is well (Kara, the protagonist, falls in love with her during military training, but they are just friends). We exchanged letters, but with the state of war in the north, we didn't need postmen, but supplies, so they always gave priority, and the letters took months to arrive. We promised each other that if we got out of this alive, we would meet in the capital to enjoy the "vacation." I think I will take advantage and say what I feel, even if she rejects me. I know it could be my last chance, because when I return to the north, with the percentage of survivors, my chances are almost zero.
