Then when I'm not looking for the Wolf King, I helped Cornelia to get stronger if she's free. Her studying talent helped a lot with her development. She can learn new magic as quickly as those magic geniuses.
Today, even though there's still time for her punishment, because she did so well in her job, she has been freed and is now taking a mission with her two friends, Melly and Anne. Those two are very understanding and willing to help Cornelia because they're so close.

Because they're close, even though they have their own big room unlike those from class B or lower, they sleep together in one room. That's why when Cornelia didn't return without telling them, they were worried.
Well, at least it's good that she made great friends with them. Since it's different with the game now where they slowly stopped talking with Cornelia, those three will be closer than ever. They're great potentials to be recruited to my clan. Though I haven't told them about my clan yet.
Because I'm free, I continue looking for the Wolf King again today. I hope I can find it as soon as possible because I don't want to look for it for days. So once I'm done with my original mission I took, I use slip magic to travel around the surrounding area of Dahlia city to look for it.
Looking for one in the wild is difficult. Though I don't think I will have any trouble killing it. I have killed the Titan Wolf alone after all. A Wolf King is nothing special.
And I finally find it. The Wolf King is hiding near the mountain area. And that's surprisingly also where Cornelia and her friends are. They're supposed to only take a goblin subjugation mission like me. But they're all the way here surrounded by wolves.
"That's a Wolf King! Only B-rank adventurers or higher can defeat them! We're just rookies," Melly says with a spear pointing at a wolf in front of her. She has talent with polearm weapon. That's what Cornelia told me. I think their talents were listed in the game but because they don't have any impact other than Cornelia ignoring them after Julian was sold as a slave, I forgot about them.
As for Anne, she's unarmed. But that's because she has talent in kicking. That's right, she can kick.
Melly and Anne at the front because of their talent and Cornelia at the back using her magic. That's a decent party actually. Especially since Cornelia can use many kinds of magic.
But the opponent this time is too much for them. A Wolf King is a powerful opponent.
I thought of facing the Wolf King one-on-one to test my strength after training for more than a year with Sven and the others. Though I'm still a bit scared but the Wolf King shouldn't be stronger than Sven, right?
Well, with this situation, I don't think I can test my fighting skill easily against the Wolf King. I'll just end the fight sooner.
"Cornelia!" I shout at the girls, "create a dome-shaped barrier using magic and control it so there's a gap in front of you for the wolves to enter one by one. Melly and Anne will work together to kill any wolf that enters the barrier through the gap! I'll handle the Wolf King."
Once I shouted my order, Cornelia reacts first. She understands her job well. And because I have told her that she needs to improve her control over her magic, she can create a hole in the barrier for the wolves to enter one by one.
She should know that a barrier magic won't last long if it's being attacked from all sides for too long. But with an opening, the opponent should enter through it instead of attacking the barrier. And since she's not alone, the others can handle the wolves that enter.
"Do as Miro says! He's a B-rank adventurer!" Cornelia shouts to her friends.
And those two quickly get themselves ready to fight. With only one wolf that can enter at a time, they don't have to worry about other wolves. This should last until I defeat the Wolf King.
The Wolf King is a smart monster. Once Cornelia's barrier was activated, instead of focusing at the girls, the Wolf King looks at me instead. It's looking at the man who gave the order.
With a low growl, the Wolf King ordered the other wolves to kill me. While some are still surrounding Cornelia and her friends, some others are surrounding me.
I pull out the longsword on my waist. I won't put this inside my Storage Ring. Just by having a weapon in sight can be helpful when facing my enemies. It's a great wisdom from Jaden.
With two hands on the sword, I swung it around. The length of the sword allowed me to kill several wolves at once with my swing.
"Oh, I'm this strong?"
Even without using Aura or slip magic I can be this strong. Training bears fruit even if you don't have the talent for it. I was right.
Well, I know I'm always right. But it's still surprising to see the effect.
Though they're just wolves. I can't be proud of killing some of them. The real enemies are demons and I don't know how strong they are.
"Nelly, your boyfriend is strong!" Melly says.
"He's not my boyfriend! And focus on the wolves. The next one is coming!"
Do I look like her boyfriend? I guess I will really end up making enemies of the people who have crushes on her.
While killing the wolves, I also move closer and closer to the Wolf King. And finally the Wolf King howled.
All the wolves stopped moving and they retreated back. Even the one who was inside Cornelia's barrier retreats. But they don't run away.
Instead, they're making a circle around us with the Wolf King and me at the center. The Wolf King wants to fight me.
The Wolf King with its golden fur characteristic is approaching me. I put on my regular stance with my sword. Putting on my regular fighting stance makes me calmer despite my fear.
My fear is not something I could train despite how scary and deadly Jaden and Sven when they trained me. Even if they told me to gain some courage, I couldn't. I'm still a cowardly man. But that's why I'm desperate to move. Because if I'm frozen in fear, bad things will happen.
I never train myself to gain courage. Instead, I trained myself to be able to move even in fear. Those are different. Sven couldn't understand my explanation while Jaden only nodded. The others were also confused.
But this is me. The cowardly man desperate for survival in this world that is fated to be attacked by demons. No matter how weak my opponent is, there's no changing the fact that I'm afraid of them. Even if I know I could kill them with one strike.
And this is why slip magic is the best. Sure I can kill the Wolf King easily if I make it slip and attack its heart or head. But I also want to see how strong I am. So I use slip magic, or in this case it can be called as friction magic, to increase the grip on my sweaty palms so I can hold the sword stronger.
The Wolf King pounces on me but I stand still before pulling my sword back. I can see its movement clearly and timed my swing correctly to when the Wolf King's paw will reach me.
And with this sword I found in one of the dungeons I explored in the past, one of the strongest longsword in the game, I cut off its front paw about to pounce me before I take a sidestep and swing upwards to cut the Wolf King's neck.
Wolf King. In the game, to kill it with the protagonist alone without using magic, the protagonist needed to be at around level 50. Yes, I tried playing the game in many different ways including banning myself from using physical attacks or magic.
I killed it with one strike. But I still can't be proud of this achievement. The real danger is still far ahead and I can't imagine what will happen.
"Haaa… that was scary," I say.
The other wolves frozen in shock seeing their leader died. They're staring at me.
"What are you looking at!? Rarrararragh! Ruff! Shoo!" I roared and shoo'ed the wolves. And they instantly ran away. They are smart enough to know that I'm stronger than them.
"…He looked cool for a second and then he gets crazy. What a weird man," Anne says.
"At least we're safe. Let's return to the city quickly. I'm tired," Cornelia says.
With this, I should be able to gain some reputation. There are even witnesses here. Creating a clan shouldn't be difficult once I have enough members.
