Chapter 14 - Chapter 12: Flight Training

"Are you sure you want to do flight training?"

"Yeah!"

Hilia grabbed a flying broom, cleaned the floor thoroughly, and then left the dormitory.

Now it was the afternoon of the second day. After quickly finishing dinner, the girl took out the rarely used school-issued flying device—a flying broom, ready to begin her flight training.

This flying broom made Rose feel a bit nostalgic, "A flying broom, huh. Such a primitive flying tool."

Hilia blushed slightly, "I can't afford other flying devices, so I have to use the school-issued one. This is how the school devices are designed..."

"It looks pretty good, quite retro."

After leaving the dormitory, she straddled the broom, infused it with magic power, and the broom wobbled into the air, slowly flying in a direction.

"I'm planning to practice flying in the school's activity area," said Hilia.

"Hmm, how come you didn't use it these past two days?"

"The school's flying brooms are too slow, not convenient to carry during class, so I didn't use them."

It really is quite slow.

But isn't it because you're afraid of heights and don't dare to fly fast?

Rose watched Hilia clutching the broom tightly, looking very nervous. She was flying at a height of less than 10 meters, which meant that anyone could see her passing by without even looking up.

Fortunately, Hilia changed clothes and wore casual pants instead of a skirt, otherwise...

"I-I'm not very skilled at flying yet, p-please don't blame me..." Noticing Rose watching her flight, Hilia quickly said.

She was so nervous that she was stammering.

"Afraid of heights?" Rose pointed out the essence.

"No! I'm just, just not used to flying like this, afraid of, of falling."

Rose didn't say anything.

If Hilia really had a fear of heights, participating in flight competitions would be difficult.

But maybe she's just scared at the beginning. Once she gets used to it, she won't be afraid anymore.

Handling magic while being afraid of heights? That can only be called character design.

As long as she doesn't get sick or faint at high altitudes, it's just a fake fear of heights, needing some training.

Fly a few more rounds vigorously, and all challenges will be overcome.

After spending some time, Hilia arrived at the school's activity area. The sun had already set, and night was falling.

The Divine Magic Academy didn't have a curfew at night; nighttime was when students were most active.

"So many people." As soon as Hilia entered, she saw many students practicing flying with various devices in the activity area sky.

Hilia looked at those students with customized flying devices enviously, "I want a nice flying device too..."

Rose scanned around and found that the students had a variety of flying devices, some normal and some abstract.

"Let me see what flying devices there are... Hmm, a flying sword, that's possible. Carpet, door, bed? Pretty interesting, flying while lying down, saves effort and doesn't hurt your butt."

"Flying bed? That looks awesome."

Hilia was also watching the bizarre flying devices.

She suddenly noticed an unusual flying device: "What is that?"

Rose took a look, "Hair, he's using his hair as propellers to fly."

"Huh? Hair? Doesn't it get tighter and tighter when spinning?"

"He's bald."

"Huh?"

Hilia imagined it, with a wig spinning rapidly on the head, rubbing.

"His head... must be very shiny."

It seemed to be her first time at the activity area at night, and Hilia was even more curious than Rose.

"How is that student letting a magic puppet step on him to fly?"

"That magic puppet might be his wife. See, it's got simulated skin."

"Huh? Treating a magic puppet as a wife?"

"Everyone has their quirks; we must respect and bless them."

Rose wasn't lying. That student was face-up, letting the magic puppet step on him, and looked at it with eyes full of affection.

The magic puppet, with a layer of simulated skin, was carved into a beautiful girl with an indifferent expression.

"And how is that student extending his arms and spinning, with fire spraying from his hands... Is that a flying device or magic?"

"It's a flying device, on his hands. He got the parameters wrong, making it spray diagonally, so two devices sprayed diagonally and made him spin."

"Isn't he dizzy?"

"He's already passed out, don't worry. The teacher is waiting below."

"..."

Faced with the diversified flying devices in the sky, Hilia's flying broom seemed quite ordinary.

Fortunately, with so many people around, no one noticed her wobbly flying.

"Flight skills boil down to practice; nothing beats more flying. Hilia, if you want to master flying skills, stabilize first, then go higher and climb to above 20 meters now."

"20 meters..." Hilia gritted her teeth, and a determined look appeared on her fair face as she suddenly tugged the broom, slowly ascending.

"Fly faster!"

The Evil God's gaze made Hilia's scalp tingle immediately, so she quickly accelerated.

Though still not fast, at least it reached a speed of twenty to thirty miles per hour.

Alright then, at least it's a breakthrough.

Faster than walking.

"Great, next, circle around the field, tilting your body slightly to the left or right while flying. Don't worry, you won't fall. The broom has an automatic correction capability; its flight trajectory all depends on your spiritual power..."

With Hilia's trembling completion of a lap, Rose praised, "Well done, you've learned to fly. Next, spin and roll in the air three times."

"Huh?... Ah!!!"

Before Hilia could react, Rose enveloped her with his spiritual power, adding an extra push, which propelled her and the broom swiftly forward, then rotated and rolled in the air with Hilia's terrified expression.

Before Hilia could scream loudly, Rose slowed down and released his spiritual power, stabilizing her again.

It appeared as if she performed a high-difficulty flight maneuver and was shouting in excitement, so no one noticed she was afraid.

After all, nearby flyers were all shouting too.

Some even collided due to late braking.

Fortunately, the flying devices were equipped with cushioning arrays, so without high speed, one wouldn't fall, only get laughed at by others.

"So how does it feel to fly in style?"

Hilia patted her chest, her pale face hadn't recovered yet.

"Σ( ̄ロ ̄lll) This way of flying is too thrilling, I can't handle it."

"No worries, a few more times and you'll get used to it, and then you'll enjoy the feeling."

Hilia looked frightened, "No... ah... stop... ahhh—!!!"

...

When the school bell rang, reminding students outside to return to their dorms to rest, Hilia was finally freed.

When she touched down back at the dorm, her legs were like jelly.

Recalling the activity just now, she was scared, but also felt a bit excited.

The feeling of soaring in the sky was so exhilarating.

"Could I not actually be afraid of heights?" the girl wondered.

"Yes, in high-speed flight, you didn't faint or throw up, just pure fear, not a fear of heights," Rose said earnestly.

Hilia didn't quite understand either, but after thinking, she felt Rose made sense.

"Alright, I'll work hard to overcome my fear and prepare for Friday's challenge!"

"I said you could do it without practicing," Rose shook his head, "But since you love the thrill so much, I'll just have to support you to the end."

"No thinking of rest, get up quickly, and continue practicing the sleep meditation skill."

"Ah..."
