Liu Zixuan's eyes intensely stared at Liu Ruyan, as if a lecherous wolf was about to devour the beautiful woman in front of him.
Upon hearing this, Liu Ruyan's face immediately reddened, unsure if it was out of shyness or anger. She glared at Liu Zixuan, "No way!"
"Why not?"
Liu Zixuan shrugged, "You all promised me earlier; once I healed the person, I could freely choose a wife."
"That was Granny Zhang's words, she only represents her own opinion; she can't speak for all the women in the village, so it doesn't count."
Liu Ruyan said angrily, "You can pick a different condition!"
"Darn!" Liu Zixuan was a bit dumbfounded; things changed rapidly. Then again, since he was planning to stay temporarily in Lingxiu Village, he didn't mind the chance to bond with Liu Ruyan.

The so-called office was rather simple, just a tattered desk with two chairs and a very outdated electric fan, along with a bookshelf holding a few books.
"The conditions here are like this, don't mind. Have a seat." Liu Ruyan said.
Liu Zixuan sat across from her and smiled, "As long as I'm with a beauty like you, even living in a mountain cave is worth it."
"Ahem." Liu Ruyan rolled her eyes at him, "Where do you come from? What's your full name? Why are you here?"
"Checking my household registration?" Liu Zixuan raised an eyebrow.

Liu Ruyan was extremely furious; she was at least the village head, yet this doctor kept teasing her again and again.
Liu Zixuan shrugged, "See, you still don't believe me. Anyway, I'm planning to settle here temporarily, just find me a place to stay and someone to cook for me."
"There's a place to stay, but no one to cook." Liu Ruyan pretended to be serious.
"Can't you cook?"

Liu Ruyan indeed couldn't cook. Without Doudou's mom, she'd be eating instant noodles every day.
Seeing Liu Ruyan's embarrassment, Liu Zixuan chuckled, "Why don't I move in with you then? You can just follow me around, and I'll cook for you."

Liu Ruyan also felt it was little, but the village lacked enterprises; most women were either manual laborers or farmers, living off the land. Additionally, due to local customs, the village wasn't favored by higher authorities, and thus received little funding.
