"These are healing ants. Their saliva has disinfectant and anesthetic effects. Their mandibles work like a stapler, using the patient's ether as 'staples' to stitch wounds, bones, and even nerves, and all you're giving up is a little bit of blood and residual exotic attributes from the wound."
"The healing effect is almost instantaneous. They have formed symbiotic relationships with many animals in the wild. Many low-tier spirit beasts choose to build nests near the nests of healing ants."
"The only downside might be the pain, which is rather hard to endure, like a stomachache or toothache. If it's unbearable, should I have Dr. Kaiwen try another treatment?"
To this, Vishdair chuckled, "If I even utter a sound, I won't eat dinner tonight."
Seeing no objection from her, Lin Guang uncorked the vial and pressed the mouth of it against Vishdair's leg. Immediately, the ants moved swiftly like sharks smelling blood, crawling onto the long wound and biting down.
"..."
Almost visibly, Vishdair's face changed slightly, but she forced herself to suppress it, resulting in a subtle expression.
A few minutes later, the long wound was no longer visible. The surrounding tint of disinfectant was the only indication there had been a wound there. The healing ants' slightly translucent abdomens swelled up like balloons, filled with the blood and ether they had sneaked off with, stumbling away like drunken middle-aged men, captured by Lin Guang and placed back into the vial one by one.
"Eh?"
Vishdair was taken aback for a moment, lifted her foot, twisted her ankle, and then leaped up, landing steadily on the ground, a trace of surprise flashing across her face.
"Don't get too cocky. It's just the anesthetic effect. If you move too vigorously, the wound will still split open."
Casually reminding her, Lin Guang handed the vial back to Kaiwen, "Thank you, Dr. Kaiwen."
Just as the two were about to leave the medical room, Kaiwen suddenly spoke, "Why did you choose to contract with her, to choose a being known as a Terran Demon?"
"Don't you know that those who contract with such beings never meet a good end?"
Lin Guang wasn't surprised by Kaiwen's attitude.
He had spent days using 'Terran Demon' as a keyword, searching through search engines for related records in various obscure corners.
Terra Creatures are classified under the so-called 'Magical Beasts' category.
The definition of magical beasts is very simple: they are beings that, after contracting, negatively impact the spirit of a spirit master, corresponding to the term spirit beast.
There are many types of magical beasts. A typical example is the [Hellfire Demon], naturally brutal. Although it possesses not a small amount of intelligence, its way of thinking is quite different from humans, and those who contract with a Hellfire Demon are easily counter-eroded by them.
The situation with demons is mostly similar, so spirit masters tend to keep their distance.
It's not that Terrans are called magical beasts because of brutality, but because for some reason, spirit masters who contract with Terra creatures seldom manage to continue advancing their spirit master level, and even develop mild to severe spirit issues.
Adding to that, they might carry some sort of severe contagious disease that spreads to the contractor, so being dubbed 'Terran Demons' makes sense.
However, at least so far, Lin Guang hasn't felt any mental discomfort.
He looked at Kaiwen, calmly confessing, "My talent is called [Heart of Terra]."
"As the name suggests, it has a strong bond with Terra creatures. As long as I want to be a spirit master, I have no other path to take."
"I definitely won't give up."
Either choose not to be a spirit master, or be set on this path.
He would certainly not settle for mediocrity.
"..."
For some reason, upon hearing these words, Kaiwen's green eyes seemed dazed for a moment, as if seeing through Lin Guang to some distant presence.
After a moment, she returned to her senses and nodded slightly.
"Since you've made your resolve, I won't say more."
"However, there's no need to be overly pessimistic."
"Research suggests that talent is a reflection of the soul and, to some extent, a mirror of the spirit master's spirit. Since you possess this talent limited to Terra life, I guess you would have a strong resistance akin to antibodies against spiritual pollution, just like spirit masters with the [Poisonous Body] talent are almost immune to their spirit beasts' poison."
"But you'll still have to measure your limits yourself."
This woman, as exquisite as a piece of art, uttered so many words in one breath, which surprised Lin Guang somewhat:
"Thank you for your concern, I'll be careful."
"I was merely conveying the severity of the situation. By the way, take this and fill it out."
Saying this, Kaiwen opened a drawer beside her and pulled out a stack of not-so-thin documents. Lin Guang took them and flipped through, finding it quite similar to the psychological tests from his previous life, just that it seemed quite extensive.
"In all the provincial high school leagues of Great Xia and in many brand-sponsored competitions, there's a rule — all spirit masters contracted with those categorized as magical beasts must provide a certificate from a professional physician or researcher before the match, proving the spirit master is mentally sound and their Sea of Spirit isn't polluted."
"Find the time to fill it out, and come back to fill it once a month."
"Alright, thank you, Teacher Kaiwen."
Lin Guang nodded, accepting the documents.
"With so much said, it's still that poker face, must be a menopausal old woman who's been abstinent for too long."
Perhaps because Lin Guang was the one performing the treatment, or maybe because Kaiwen kept a cold face and said a lot of things she didn't understand, Vishdair pouted and muttered casually.
Initially, she felt the language barrier was troublesome, but now she kind of liked it, able to curse freely without getting caught.
But for some reason.
When Vishdair spoke those words, Kaiwen's gaze shifted slightly to the left, fixing on Vishdair. Those green eyes, almost devoid of emotional fluctuation, made her somewhat uneasy, though she felt it a bit shameful and glared back fiercely.
Of course, she didn't use Fearful Face.
Lin Guang felt a bit helpless, "Stop messing around, let's go."
"..."
After the two left the room, Kaiwen leaned back against the chair, motionless for a long while. Only after a good while did she grasp the vial, stand up and walk into the inner room, filled with machinery that would bewilder laymen to no end, where on a table, there were dozens of healing ants of various sizes being kept.
After some operation, those well-fed healing ants disgorged most of their 'food' in front of their queen, their grape-like abdomens deflating, while Kaiwen collected the mixture of blood and ether with a dropper, placing it into one of the machines.
"Vish... dair?"
The closing door left Dr. Kaiwen's murmuring in the confines of this small room.
