Dark clouds gathered densely overhead.
Although it was only afternoon, it looked like night. The air was eerily still. There was no wind or rain, but everyone knew this was just the prelude to an impending torrential downpour.
The second wave of the beast horde marching across the wasteland had not chosen to besiege the city at night like the previous one. Perhaps rolling straight through everything without encountering decent resistance had given this massive monster army the illusion that they possessed the power to sweep away anything in their path.
But they did have the foundation for such confidence. A monster horde of this scale, led by an Extraordinary Demon Commander, could instantly crush the vast majority of small towns.
"It's going to storm," Aaliyah said softly, looking up at the heavy, dark clouds.
