Chapter 155 - Decision (155)

Anyway, after the number of side branch Hyūga attacks had reached the triple digits—yes, it got that bad—the elders couldn't ignore it anymore, and all Hyūga on missions were recalled back to Konoha. It was becoming abundantly clear that the seal was the issue. For fuck's sake, main family members weren't even being attacked—they were just targeting the side branch, activating that damn seal, and it was GG.

Luckily, Seijuro's squad did manage to retrieve some of the eyeballs—roughly like 75 of them. There were still around 25 pairs of eyeballs currently in circulation, though... so yeah, this was bad.

Anyway, the clan had to remove that feature where a main branch member could just activate the seal and destroy the eyes.

Seijuro was a good enough seal master by now. As Seijuro, he was like the second-best seal master in Konoha... behind Kushina—but not by much, really. So the fact he was assigned to make the new seals did make sense.

But yet...

He looked at the dozen modifications to the Caged Bird Seal—each sent by the Hyūga clan—and was annoyed.

He had been at it for nearly two hours now. And he was unimpressed.

No—he was insulted.

Every seal submission, no matter how cleverly disguised, retained one specific, unmistakable trait: a subjugation trigger. Some buried it behind elaborate chakra locks, others rewrote it under more "benevolent" labels, but they all retained it—the same damn failsafe.

A function that allowed the main house to control the side house.

Seijuro slowly leaned back in his chair, exhaling through his nose. His fingers tapped the table.

Maybe he needed to go speak to Hiashi a bit.

POV Change: Hyūga Main House – Inner Garden

Hiashi Hyūga stood in the garden, speaking with his twin brother Hizashi, when Seijuro arrived. Both turned when the young man approached. Seijuro had a rather calm expression on his face; he looked exactly like he did in the academy.

"Lord Hiashi. Lord Hizashi," he greeted with a polite nod.

"Kurama Seijuro," Hiashi returned with a bow of his head. "I take it you've reviewed the submissions?"

Seijuro didn't bother with small talk.

"I did. And with all due respect... they offer no visible improvements."

Hiashi's brow twitched. Hizashi didn't say much. Hm. About expected, honestly.

"The issue," Seijuro continued, voice crisp but respectful, "isn't that the seal is broken—it's that you're trying to fix it while still keeping the same poison inside."

Hiashi's gaze narrowed. "You believe protecting the hierarchy is poison?"

"I believe holding your own family hostage to fear is poison," Seijuro replied coolly. "Every seal I reviewed still has a way for the main branch to induce pain, paralyze movement, or destroy the Byakugan. That function is the flaw. And it's also why the enemies now control the field."

He stepped closer.

"The seal has been exposed to Kumo and Kiri. They reversed it. Now, when you activate the mark—they trigger it first. Branch members scream in agony mid-battle. Their eyes rupture. They go down before a fight even starts."

Hizashi winced, clenching a fist.

"They are no longer guards," Seijuro continued. "They are walking liabilities. If you cling to this control function, you aren't protecting the main house. You're ensuring its death."

Hiashi didn't respond.

"While yes, I understand the pragmatic use for such a seal—the Byakugan isn't like the Sharingan. It's more stable, and thus easier to implant. Requires less chakra overall to maintain active. While yes, it offers great vision and its potential is quite vast, which makes it desirable for any shinobi... this seal... makes it useless."

He paused.

"If you wish to retain the feature where it destroys the eyes after death or when the nerves get cut, I can do such a thing. I can even have a seal that heals the eyes instead of slowly destroying them, as the previous seal did."

As he said so, he showcased the detailed seal on the floor, with all the little intricacies laid out.

As Hiashi picked it up and read it—yup, this was 100% Seijuro's thoughts. His ass was very thorough with it.

And there was even a simplified version, for those who didn't want to know about every nerve or every muscle fiber that activated for this shit.

"I will look it over," the man said, looking at the paper. TL;DR: I'm thinking about it.

"Thank you. I hope you make your decision soon. We wouldn't wish for the Hyūga to end up like the Senju," he said politely, bowing before leaving.

TL;DR: Unless he wanted his clan to end up with only a few members remaining, he better do his shit quickly. 100 Hyūga had died already, and they only had like 700 left. A chunk of the clan's ready shinobi—warriors—had been slain like this. And it wasn't like they were genin or anything. The weakest of them was Chūnin rank. So, yes—the Hyūga clan was in fact losing a lot of strength from this shit.

So they had to decide... very quickly.

A/N Small ish on my part.

Reanimation Jutsu (Abyssal) ★★★★☆ Adept

Function: Calls forth a soul from the Abyss and forcibly anchors it into a still-living vessel.

The technique bypasses natural death resistance by "borrowing" vitality from the host body.

The reanimated becomes a hybrid of living flesh and abyssal soul tether.

Strengths:The reanimated gain fragments of their former strength, skills, and personality.

Can be scaled in potency depending on Synchronization with the Abyss.

Souls bound through this method cannot easily disobey User's will unless his synchronization falters.

Being summoned from this are practically immortal, regenerating from any attack.

Weaknesses:Requires a living host body as an anchor—cannot revive corpses.

The process strains both the host and Kairo's soul.

Overuse risks backlash and corruption growth.Strong-willed souls may resist the binding, leading to instability or rebellion.

A/N: Yes... Reanimation Jutsu is OP, but he cannot rely on it, or else risk losing himself.

I tried balancing it the best I could, and this scene should show how hard it is.

So for anyone in the future saying, "Why doesn't he spam it?"It's because he will risk losing himself and just become over-reliant on it./

So is it balance properly, or do i need to add more nerf ish, cause everytime he use it, there a chance he get taken over by the abyss, so, its not something he can cheese or spam.
