*Chapter 2: TheOldWindmill*

The old windmill loomed before them, its wooden slats weathered to a silvery gray. Kaid and Lyra approached cautiously, their eyes scanning the surrounding area for any signs of trouble. The windmill's doors creaked in the gentle breeze, as if beckoning them closer.

"Stay sharp," Kaid whispered, his hand on the hilt of his sword.

Lyra nodded, her eyes locked on the windmill's entrance. "I'll watch our backs."

Kaid stepped forward, his senses on high alert. As they entered the windmill, the darkness enveloped them like a shroud. Kaid's eyes adjusted slowly, revealing the dusty machinery and cobwebs that hung like ghostly fingers.

A figure emerged from the shadows, tall and imposing. "Ah, Kaidën Blackwood," the figure said, its voice low and gravelly. "I've heard a lot about you."

Kaid's grip on his sword tightened. "Who are you?"

The figure stepped forward, revealing a face chiseled from granite. "I'm someone who needs your... particular skills. "What makes you think I'm the right man for the job?" The figure leaned forward, its eyes glinting in the dim light. "I've seen your work, Kaid. You're the best in the business. And I'm willing to pay top dollar for your services." Kaid's interest piqued, he nodded. "I'm listening.
