"Why hasn't our squad leader teacher shown up yet?"
Inside the Ninja Academy classroom, Jiraiya couldn't help but complain loudly.
All the other students had already been led away by their teachers. Only the three of them were still foolishly lingering in the classroom.
It made them look really stupid.
"Look at it from another angle—we three are a team," said Orochimaru quietly.
If nothing unexpected happened, he should already know who their squad leader teacher was.
"Tch, who wants to be on a team with an annoying jerk like you..." Jiraiya scoffed, turning his mouth down in disdain.
He hated the way Orochimaru looked at him, like he was some kind of mentally challenged child. It was infuriating.
If he weren't outmatched, he would have taught him a lesson already.
At the Ninja Academy, Orochimaru excelled in every aspect, while Jiraiya's performance was at the very bottom.
Although he was extremely unwilling to admit it, he had no choice but to acknowledge that Orochimaru was a genius.
"Idiot," Orochimaru muttered softly.
"You bastard, I..." Jiraiya hadn't finished speaking before he felt a heavy blow to his head. Doubling over in pain, he clutched his head and groaned, "Ouch! That hurts like hell!"
The strength and angle were all too familiar—he didn't need to guess. It was Tsunade, the violent girl.
"Tsunade, why are you hitting me?"
"Shut up!" Tsunade shook her fists angrily. Anyone who dared talk back would soon learn her strength!
Seeing this, Jiraiya obediently shut his mouth, though he couldn't help whispering under his breath.
"Violent girl… who would dare marry you in the future?"
"What did you just say?"
"N-nothing..."
"Idiot." Orochimaru shook his head helplessly. Just thinking about having to team up with someone as stupid as Jiraiya gave him a headache.
There would probably be no peaceful days ahead.
"Why hasn't our squad leader teacher come yet?" Tsunade frowned. "If the teacher is late, I'll report it to Hokage-sama exactly as it happened."
As a part of the administrative generation, she was determined to make sure Hokage-sama gave the tardy teacher a harsh lesson!
"Exactly, exactly," Jiraiya nodded seriously. "Hokage-sama must deduct his mission pay."
They had been waiting here for almost two hours, yet their teacher hadn't appeared. That kind of person clearly had no sense of responsibility.
Wouldn't there be a problem if their squad leader teacher never showed up?
Orochimaru's expression was strange, but he said nothing, pretending not to have heard their chatter.
"Oh my, your teacher still hasn't arrived?"
Just then, a pineapple-haired youth walked into the classroom, looking somewhat helpless.
Renya was still unreliable when it came to attending school…
"Teacher Motoha," the three said respectfully.
Nara Motoha was also their homeroom teacher, known to be strict during class.
"Teacher Motoha, who is our squad leader teacher?" Jiraiya complained. "We've been waiting all afternoon and haven't seen anyone."
"Yes, Teacher Motoha, just tell us," Tsunade asked.
If they wanted to report to Hokage-sama, they first needed to know the squad leader teacher's name.
"Don't worry, just wait a little longer," Nara Motoha said with a hint of emotion. "Your team leader never liked studying anyway."
"Never liked studying?" Jiraiya scoffed. "So that means he is slackers"
Under someone's influence, Jiraiya had been studying seriously and had passed all his academic subjects. He was no longer considered a slacker.
Still, even in the best class, barely passing in academics still made him one of the bottom students.
—Basically, a minor slacker.
"Can a slacker leader really guide us?" Jiraiya kept babbling.
There were differences even among geniuses, and the same applied to slackers!
A total score of 10 and a total score of 40 could both be considered slackers, but the difference was huge.
Orochimaru quietly distanced himself, looking at Jiraiya as if staring at a dead man.
This guy was finished.
"Jiraiya, maybe you should keep your mouth shut..." Nara Motoha sweatily said, not intending to explain.
If he revealed the truth, none of them would leave the school alive today.
After all, Renya wasn't an ordinary slacker; he was the only legend in the history of the Ninja Academy.
"Our squad leader teacher is really irresponsible," Tsunade complained.
No matter what, she was going to report this to Hokage-sama!
...
"Sorry, I'm late," Renya walked into the classroom and greeted the group.
Since he was late, he hadn't heard Jiraiya's earlier rant.
"Renya-sama?!" Jiraiya gawked in shock.
"Renya-san, you're back!" Tsunade's eyes lit up, already thinking about the delicious food she could eat.
Orochimaru looked on with a sighing expression.
"Motoha, you're still alive?" Renya noticed the pineapple-haired youth and immediately recognized him.
"Renya-kun, I'm surviving just fine," Nara Motoha forced a stiff smile, inwardly thinking, Who curses someone to death the moment they see them?!
"I hadn't seen you in years and thought you died at the border," Renya said with some emotion. "I didn't expect you to be hiding here at the Ninja Academy."
Since graduation, he hadn't returned to the school, so he didn't know that Nara Motoha had become a teacher here.
"After the war ended, I became a teacher," Nara Motoha explained.
"I see," Renya said, then seemed to think of something. "By the way, where's Hyūga Muki?"
Since the war ended, he hadn't seen the young Hyūga at all.
"I don't know..." Nara Motoha's expression was complicated, and he finally shook his head.
It seemed he didn't want to explain.
Renya was about to ask, but Jiraiya's exclamation interrupted him.
"Renya-sama, are you really our squad leader jonin?" Jiraiya asked eagerly.
"Yes," Renya nodded in agreement.
"Hahaha, this is awesome!" Jiraiya jumped up in excitement. Having Renya-sama as their squad leader teacher felt like a dream come true.
At that moment, he had completely forgotten that their squad leader teacher was supposed to be a slacker.
Tsunade was the same, her mind filled with thoughts of food, forgetting all about tattling.
Orochimaru sighed helplessly at his companions' behavior.
"Since your squad leader teacher has arrived, I can rest easy," Nara Motoha said to Renya. "Renya, I'm off duty now."
With that, he hurriedly left the classroom, seemingly afraid Renya would ask about Hyūga Muki.
Renya's curiosity deepened.
What exactly happened?
That made Nara Motoha unwilling to explain…
"Renya-san, shall we go to your house and cook for you?" Tsunade's words pulled Renya back from his thoughts.
"Yes, Renya-sensei, we can help out," Jiraiya quickly chimed in.
Renya: "..."
