Chapter 2 - PAST CALLING

As dusk settled over the sleepy town, Rose awept the last few petals from the shop floor and turned the sign on the door to closed. The quiet comforted her - the gentle silence she had learned to love.

She checked the mails on her way upstairs to her small apartment above the shop. Bills. A gardening magazine. And than...

An envelope with a handwriting she hadn't seen in years. She thought she would never see it again.

Her heart skipped.

It was from Aunt Marian.

With trembling fingers, she tore it open.

Dearest Rose,

I hope this letter reach you in time. I've tried calling but perhaps your number has changed.

I won't waste your time - I'm not well. The doctor says it's serious.

I hate to ask but I need you to come back home. Just for a while.

Please, come back to Greyson.

Love, Aunt Marian.

Rose stares at the paper, the words blurring.

Greyson

The name also stirred a chill in her bones. It was the town she had sworn never to return to - the place where everything had gone wrong. Where secrets are buried, and memories clawed at her in the dark.

She folded the letter slowly, her hands suddenly cold.

She thought she had left the past behind.!!!
