GASP.
Corven jolted upright, cold sweat clinging to his skin. His breath hitched—just for a moment—before the world steadied again.
He looked around and quickly realized he was on the bed—Rose on one side, Lilian on the other. Both of them were leaning in close, their faces filled with worry.
"What happened!? You just passed out so suddenly," Rose said, raising her voice in panic.
"Were you attacked?" Lilian added, her tone quieter but just as tense.
Corven wiped the sweat from his forehead and let out a short laugh, like it was no big deal. Honestly, after what just happened, it really didn't feel like one.
"I'm fine," he said, waving it off. "I took care of it easily."
Rose gave him a look. "Are you just saying that so we won't freak out?"
He shrugged with a half-smile. "Even if I was, would you believe me?"
KNOCK. KNOCK. KNOCK.
The sound hit the door like a drumbeat. It was followed by the muffled voices of Irsted and Trish.
