I watched my beloved camper pull away with a twinge of sorrow. Grace waved from the passenger window while Kael's truck led their little caravan, leaving me behind in a cloud of dust.
"You look like you're saying goodbye to your firstborn," Jaxon remarked.
I shot him a withering glare. "That camper and I have been through more than you could imagine."
"It's just a vehicle," he shrugged.
I turned away from him before I did something regrettable, like blast him across the parking lot. The hollowness in my chest surprised me. I'd grown accustomed to Grace's constant questions and the children's chaos. Without them, everything felt... quiet.
"Our transportation awaits," Orion said, gesturing toward a black SUV that Silas had procured through means I didn't care to question.
Great. I was stuck with a brooding Lycan, a wizard with puppy eyes, and a giant descended from angels. What a team.
"I'll drive," Jaxon announced, heading for the driver's side.
"No," I snapped. "I'm driving."
