The tension in the air is thick enough to choke on. Kael and Sera stare at each other across the cramped RV, neither backing down. The animosity between them crackles like electricity, making the small space feel even smaller.
"Guys, maybe we should—" I start, but Kael's low growl cuts me off.
"We are not having this discussion again," he says, his voice dangerously quiet.
Sera crosses her arms. "We absolutely are. Unless you want to risk everyone's safety because you're too stubborn to listen to reason."
I glance nervously at the children. Mia is watching with wide eyes, while Zack's face has gone pale. Even little Pip seems to sense the tension, clutching his stuffed wolf tighter. Only Ollie appears unfazed, though I notice his shoulders are rigid.
"Kids, why don't we go outside for a bit?" I suggest, forcing cheerfulness into my voice. "I think I saw some birds by that big oak tree earlier."
