*Hazel's POV*
The tension followed us back to the camper like a lingering cloud. The strange barbecue encounter with Doris and Archie had left us all on edge. I glanced nervously at the solar battery indicator flashing red on the dashboard as we stepped inside.
"That's not good," I muttered, tapping the display with my finger. "We need that battery working."
Kael immediately strode past me to the control panel. "Where's the generator switch?"
"Here." I pointed to a small lever. "But it's—"
Before I could finish, he flipped it confidently. The generator rumbled to life, lights flickering back to full strength.
"—finicky," I finished lamely. The machine that had been giving me trouble all week had started instantly for him.
Kael assessed the cramped living space with a calculated gaze. "Everyone needs to clean up. Children first."
His tone left no room for argument. The commanding presence that made him the feared Lycan King was being channeled into... household management?
