"Brave enough?" I arched an eyebrow at Jaxon, enjoying how his face tightened with frustration. "Your reputation suggests you've never been shy about taking what you want."
He stepped away from the bed, creating distance between us. His usually confident posture now radiated tension.
"This isn't about bravery," he growled, running a hand through his still-damp hair.
"No?" I stretched languidly, making sure my shirt rode up just enough to expose the edge of the intricate tattoo that wrapped around my hip. "Then what exactly is your problem with me helping Silas recharge?"
His eyes tracked the movement before snapping back to my face. "It's unnecessary."
"Is it?" I sat up, crossing my legs beneath me. "His magic is our best protection for Hazel right now. The stronger he is, the safer she'll be."
"There are other ways to boost his power."
