Entering a shop, Sylas asks some questions about the city's business, saying that he came under his master's orders to find a good place to buy. Corvina, behind him, looked at everything with a certain disdain.
'Everything they sell here is weird.'
They sell parts of monsters' bodies or corpses of other races, even human parts. This shop existed to satisfy the appetite of vampires, making blood mixtures to try to create a better one to sell. Vampires could choose whether they wanted to try a mixture or take only one type of blood.
Leaving the shop after a few more questions, Enrico pretends to be interested in some things before leaving for good. He still needed to pretend he was here on business.
"Master, this place is quite filthy if you consider the appearance from the outside."
"They are 'noble' beings when it comes to cleanliness, but they are very barbaric in their blood gathering."
Passing by the blood weapon shops, he asks them questions too in the same style, only observing afterwards. He needed to do this because he was surely being watched, even if they weren't that careful due to their confidence. At least you spend a day being observed.
'I can only start acting tomorrow, so today I'll try to get more information in case something has changed, even if I think it won't make a difference in this dimension.'
Since he had only really changed some things in Sanos, this place wouldn't be different, at least for now. But you never know what could happen, so he had to be prepared.
"Yumeha, did you do what I asked?"
"Yes, master."
Corvina hands over a sack of money and Sylas hides it. The vampires' currency was different, red-colored, and the redder it was, the more it was worth, since it had more blood value. He had obtained this money from all the shops by asking Yumeha to summon Hitodama to steal secretly while he distracted the vendor and the one following the two of them.
'We went through a total of ten shops and got twenty-seven coins, stealing only from five shops at minimum so as not to raise suspicion… we can spend the night and buy some monster corpses so I can cook.'
Near an old house where a vampire was about to enter, he asks some questions about the city, trying to know as much as possible to form a strategy in case something goes wrong.
'Nothing different for now.'
Walking away, he reviews the information: to the left near the castle was the guards' barracks where they spent most of their time. To the right, the blood festival was being held, where vampires feasted once per scene upon the return of the blood hunters who brought humans as food. Among all bloods, humans' was the tastiest for them and of the best quality to make them stronger.
"Where are we going, master?"
"To the right, of course. We are vampires, and I'm hungry now."
Corvina notices the head of a shadow — someone was quite close to them and perhaps trying to overhear their conversation. Placing her hand on her belly, she signals, confirming she also wanted to "eat" before resting.
'Disgusting.'
Arriving there, Corvina sees several humans tied to stakes in the air while blood dripped from their bodies into a tube that spread to the center, where there was a line and a stall of pretty appearance with red decorations.
Entering the line, Sylas waits a while before it's his turn and orders two full cups of type D blood. Just like vampires, the bloods also had classifications, from C to S. In the original story, that villain had the best one, S.
'If we compared mine, they wouldn't even be close to that level.'
He noticed how much better his blood was compared to the others' when using that magic paper. Comparing the two was actually ridiculous. If his blood had a classification, it would be SSSS, which was absurd.
"Here you are, sir. That'll be three medium blood coins."
"Here…"
Handing it over, he drinks immediately, pulling the mask above his mouth, just tasting that iron flavor among others. Corvina wanted to avoid it, especially since it was human blood, but she knew she had to dispel any suspicion that could fall upon them, so she asks quickly, and when she finishes, she feels like vomiting.
'How can master look so natural?'
"This blood is worse than I thought. I prefer the one from my land."
"Seems like we've got a high-class servant here."
A comment from a vampire at the next table was heard. Corvina noticed his eyes looking annoyed and then understood that he was really playing the role of vampire, always taking these moments seriously.
'I still have much to learn from my master…'
"Corvina, let's go. Time to rest."
"Yes, master."
Renting a place to stay for the day, both enter, with the shadow that had followed them stopping, seemingly bored. Closing the door, he takes off the mask and points to the bathroom where there was a shower.
"Even if it's bad, it's better to vomit. We are not like vampires — we can get sick if we drink blood from someone who was ill."
He was the first to go inside, and she, realizing it would be dangerous to get sick, rushes in as well, remembering the horrible taste she had tried.
Master, I want to kill these vampires.
"So do I… when we're done, I'll ask Angela to purify our bodies."
"I'm grateful."
