Chapter 98 - Good reward…

Arriving in his room after eating at the festival with his classmates, Enrico sat on the bed. He noticed that the girls seemed to be deep in thought after parting ways and going to their own rooms. The only one who didn't think much and returned to her room calmly was Yumeha—and she was the one who seemed most furious because of Aoi.

Getting into a meditation position, he tried to create the Heart of Fire once again, now that he was in the Second Circle. Focusing, the two Circles in his mana heart spun rapidly, and with each turn they became redder. All this time, he had been trying to improve the foundation of the Heart of Fire to make it stronger, so he was making some adjustments. Concentrating further, he tried to transfer all that power from the Circles into the heart. But when the magic was about to be transferred and nearly touched, he stopped and spat blood. Lying down, he realized he had failed again, but he was already thinking of a way to make it work.

Getting up, he wiped the blood off the floor and his mouth. Going to where he kept important things, he grabbed the food he had prepared for today—an ingredient from this world that he had learned to cook: venison with spicy broth sauce.

[ I want it ]

"Sorry, but I only made this today. I can give you half at most."

[ Then go ahead ]

Dividing it onto a plate, he put rice on both and split the meat in two. After pouring the sauce on top, the system's plate disappeared.

[ How do you make such good food? ]

"I worked really hard."

[ Even giving me this, the reward will stay at the same level it's at now ]

"Tsk."

He had shared his food to see if it would improve the reward, which would already be better for not having received the previous one. Now he felt like asking for his food back, but that system would never return it—at least he tried. After finishing his meal, he began exercising while waiting for the festival to end so he could receive his reward, and that end was announced as the lights began to go out.

[ Reward ready ]

"Let's see what it is."

He wiped off his sweat and sat down. After a few seconds, his reward appeared—and it was better than he thought it would be. It was so much better that he rubbed his eyes a few times to see if it was real.

[ You may spin for a magic, and you will receive all knowledge about it up to the Second Circle. This new magic will match your current circle level. ]

"Are you serious?"

[ I told you you wouldn't regret it ]

He was truly surprised, as the only downside was that it would be random—and depending on the magic he got, it could get him killed.

"Can you show me the list of magics that will be in the spin?"

[ There is no list. It's all the magics that have ever existed or exist in this world. ]

Right, now the difficulty was that depending on the magic, it could be very bad or very good. There were some magics he couldn't have, such as those opposed to fire—because aside from being incompatible, it would be suicide. If he suddenly got a magic completely opposite to his execution order, suspicion would be greater than it was in the beginning due to such a drastic change.

"Alright, no demonic magic, even if I want one of those. No ice or water magic, or I'm screwed. Who would believe that a boy had been hiding such magic and it was that kind?"

Not even a prodigy would have that unless they were already much older. There were other bad magics for his type, but those were the main ones he absolutely couldn't have. He needed to get at least decent magics for his own type.

"Maybe metal magic like the sister of the original Enrico…"

Enrico paced back and forth, thinking about the disadvantages and advantages of various magics—when the system started spinning without him noticing.

"Maybe Sun Magic, so I could advance my development for the Sun Heart technique… That would be great."

[ Sorry… ]

Enrico looked at the system, confused about why it apologized. Seeing the screen, he fell silent.

[ You were taking too long, so I just wanted to speed things up. But it's not my fault—your luck is crap anyway, so it would've landed even if you had spun… ]

Seeing his chosen magic, Enrico looked out the window, wanting to see the empty sky again. But even that didn't work, because, as if to mock him, all the stars had returned and the moon shone brightly.

"On top of being one of the worst results…"

The magic he got wasn't surprising or unique. In fact, it was quite common—but in the worst way for him. The magic he received was Water Magic… yes, the same magic Caelan and many others had, far inferior to Kai's and not even comparable.

"Water Magic? Seriously? Am I that common to you, or do you just want me dead?"

[ Sorry… ]

He wouldn't even be able to use that magic in front of others, so he'd have to use it in secret. There was really nothing he could do with his miserable luck, so the only thing left was to curse them while covering his face with his hands.

"I hate you… and I want you to go to hell."

[ If it makes you feel better, the constellations are also apologizing for your luck being so bad. ]

He truly hated them and wanted to kill every single one. It had been a long time since he hated anyone this much—and the last person he hated, he intended to hunt down until the end of time.
